Is he the “Biggest Fish”? No (at least not yet).

HOWEVER

-He clearly is an Elite Defensive guy
- He has proven he can win in the Power 5
- He is very familiar with the recruiting area and is very well respected there.

And he doesn’t come with any BS. He is a boring family man. We have had enough BIG personalities as HC so it’s time to let his teams’ play do the taking.

But wait for it, a few mouth breathers are going to come in here with “well known” yet totally vague and non-specific knocks on Aranda like recruiting issues and a general lack of cultural fit with LSU. Then when pressed for specifics they will disappear.

FWIW, I think Aranda would be a home run hire for us.

I think the board would love to have Aranda. If he brings in the right O coordinator.

I disagree that he is the best choice but I do want to add something that I think his absolute best quality is...

When things go bad he stays level headed and fights through the adversity with football knowledge specific tools to get out of the hole. He doesn't panic and go on mad tirades like O does or ignore the adversity like Miles. That is an elite trait when handing 18-22 year old kids. The calmness to assess the situation, make adjustments and not let the team fall apart is paramount.

This is why he wont get the job. You guys act like great O coordinators are plentiful.

They’re a helluva lot easier to find than solid defensive coordinators

One thing that Aranda will buy is a bit of patience. The fan base has enough respect for him to give him a little extra time that others (like Tucker) wouldn’t be afforded.

We dont need to get Coach O his own coordinator just because we are paying him not the be the head coach. Duh.

Man, I’d love to know the defensive side of the ball is locked down like Aranda could lock it down.

Just curious how the inverse isn’t also true for an Offensive Guru coach. LSU HAS PROVEN they can WIN on DEFENSE and we did it with an offense from the Stone Age. Baylor’s offense IS NOT from the Stone Age.

Just because Ed and Ree couldn’t hire one doesnt mean they’re not out there. Let’s not forget, we paid what it took to get Aranda and to keep him. He knows this and is another reason he’d take the job. No one needs to sell him on the upside of being here. He had a front row seat to a guy that isn’t super smart win it all. There’s no way you walk away from that and not think. “I could do that and keep it going”

I'd love Aranda but the recruiting argument is his only knock. Jimbo, Saban, Smart, Dabo all in the same footprint. LSU will get top 10 classes but look what top 2 classes has done to Georgia, walk-on dentist QB might lead them to a natty

I know the Texas D isn’t great but Baylors offense looked good. That’s with a guy no one in the SEC would offer at QB, I think this guy would be an amazing hire. The QB room is good and going to get better once we’re stable. O has proven we need roster management as much or more than landing the splash recruit that will never see the field. (Kardell Thomas for one)

What circus?

Just because it's chaos on a message board you think that Woody gives two shits?

What exactly is a circus? Do you expect a new coach to be named during the season?

Good Offensive Coordinators are also easier to find when the head coach doesn’t have such a bad reputation amongst coaching circles that repels potential hires away from even kicking the tires on such an opportunity.
