Perfectly put. This is exactly my point. They supposedly have all of these advantages, yet have managed to get 1 title in that period. The same number that Clemson and BYU have.

They've won the weak Big 12 twice in 16 years (1 more than A&M). 7 conference championships in 30 years (same as A&M). Everyone tells me how Great they are, show it. They aint done shite in a long, long time.

you made a decent case for Texan arrogance earlier in your post but fell apart IMO in this paragraph. Times have changed. It used to be apparently easier to win national championships in Minnesota than in Florida. But it is not today.

Alabama is a tremendous coaching opportunity with impressive resources and a fertile recruiting state. But they are not Texas (or California or Florida) and they do not have as much money and do not have the ability to pay tens of millions of dollars per year to a single coach on top of the tens of millions of dollars per year they already invest in football facilities, programs, coaching staffs, etc.

This isn't a shot at Alabama in particular but it should send chills of concern throughout the football world with respect to what it will mean for coaches and their compensation in the future. A rising tide of spending has been lifting salaries for a variety of coaches with relatively mediocre abilities and achievements and that will have to stop at some point for even major programs in major conferences to remain financially viable. Pointing to my own program in LSU I have to worry what if there's still a highest paid coach in football component to Les Miles' contract? Suddenly winning a national championship would become a financially questionable outcome. After all, Alabama could not afford to keep Nick and they wanted him as badly as you could want him.

Seriously? Would you rather play LSU, Auburn, A & M, Tenn, Missouri and probably UGA, UF or SC every year or TT, OU, OSU, TCU, Baylor and WV? I know my preference.

Not even close. Alabama does not have a large in state stock of talent. He has to go out of state to find a large number of his players. Even with competition there is a much larger pool of talent in Texas and it is much easier to recruit.

Here again, Texas' money advantage is not a new thing. That has been the case for decades. Texas' population advantage is not a new thing. The volume of recruits in Texas is not a new thing. These have been factors for years and years and years. It hasn't helped.

And, Alabama has all the money they need to pay Saban whatever he wants. The word is they are offering him $7 Million. If they need to make that $10 Million, they can get it.
