Report: The reason the #Raiders won't fire Josh McDaniels is financial - "They don't have the money to fire him."
The team is "cash poor" and can't afford to fire McDaniels and then pay another coach, according to @BillPlaschke
"He'll be the coach this year and next year."

Just wait until they have to pay Gruden

Can't one of the casinos fork over a check?

He must spend all of his money on his haircut.

I would sell official T-shirts at like $100 a pop that have the logo and on the back says “I got McDaniels fired”.

yeah I think he's the only owner left that makes his money strictly from the team
pretty sure it was the main reasoning for trading Mack, they didn't have the cash to put his guaranteed money into escrow.

Raiders already settled with him.

A team in Vegas was always a financial concern to me considering what seems to be the economic engine of that town being so reliant on discretionary spending. It was gutted in 2009.
The fact they don't have independent wealth to rely on would seem to put them in a bad spot if they haven't prepared for a downturn.

I appreciate the explanation for why they won't fire him. Anyone have an explanation of why they hired him?

Al Davis had an interesting career. He went from a position coach in the AFL to the HC of the Raiders. Then he used his experience as a head coach to lobby to be commissioner of the AFL.
He then leveraged his experience and power as commissioner to obtain a small ownership stake and control of operations with the Raiders when they wanted him to return to the organization.
Over time he aligned himself with various ownership factions within the Raiders to obtain more power and shares. He had complete control of the organization before he was a majority owner. Eventually he was able to acquire a majority stake. I think he only owned 2/3 of the shares. I don’t know if Mark Davis has bought or sold any since Al died.

It makes sense when you think of the new stadium investment + gruden + Davis wealth being through football

More like he still gets his cut of the pie and the stadium will sell out even if they are average to bad
Why waste millions of dollars of your own money if it doesn't matter

Thank God LSU didn't even entertain the idea. Some posters stumped as hard for him as Jimbo at the time.

The NFL can't wait till the day Davis has to sell.
Goodell will probably piss on Al Davis' grave.

How is the Davis ownership still so poor with the new stadium?
