The Saints counter offer was strong......I get that. The Freeman jump to ND stings, but much of it was about his personality being drawn north of the Mason Dixon line.

Issue is the lack of understanding of those two items above and not actively working other angles. Hell, maybe they have and they aren’t Allevaesk.....

FIFY

That makes the optics 1000x worse.

The issue is the play-by-play leaks. Ed needs to have a solid hire sewn up in 48 hours to fix the optics.

This. Keep your mouth shut until it’s done. Does he not realize he is doing all the leveraging for the guy to get more money? I mean negotiating 101

Orgeron has the IQ of a fence post.

IMO this makes Payton look worse. Why does he wait until the eleventh hour to offer Nielsen a big raise and promotion. It’s like he really wanted to screw LSU. It’s been known for weeks that LSU really wanted Nielsen.

And if he hires someone who puts a good product on the field this fall...no one will remember any of this.

Yeah, this is a clown show and a cluster frick. And Scott Woodward is as much or more to blame than Ed. I thought when we hired him we’d be immune from terrible optics that make the LSU brand look foolish and incompetent. shite, you’d think Joe Alleva was still here.

Maybe he was a bit pre-occupied trying to beat Tom Brady

O has always said too much to the media in my opinion. We don't have to always show our cards.

How? They just found out Campbell was being hired by Detroit as HC opening up the Asst HC position. You want them to offer Nielsen a position that does not exist?

How’d that work out for him? Matter of fact how’d that work out for him the last 3 years of HOME playoff games? frick the Aints, I’m officially done with them...Peyton and Loomis are both slimy cock smokers who knew full well that Nielsen was LSU’s priority for DC, and at the 11th hour pulled this shite. I wish the Bensons would have moved their sorry asses to SanAnto when they had the chance.

Woodward is the most overrated AD in the history of ADs. People literally give him way to much credit without much success to show for it. He hired Sark in UW and then Petersen. Other than selling the farm to get Jimbo with a ridiculous contract, what has he done?

Again, he is not that great.

Zach! Come Back! It's OK. You can wear Moo State gear on the sideline!

So 3 really strong hires?

A&M boosters gave him a blank check and said "Get Jimbo" and he delivered. How is that a bad thing? They finished top 5 this year

At this point I’d be more worried about a ridiculous contract to the next DC. Sure, pay them well. Actually over pay per year. But easy on the guarantee buyouts/contract length. Don’t make a desperation decision

He's not running for president. He needs a solid defensive coordinator. The timing isn't relevant. Hire the right guy, not matter how long it takes. When we are in the middle of the SEC schedule next season, no one will care if the hire was made Jan. 1 or Feb 1.
