So 3 really strong hires?

A&M boosters gave him a blank check and said "Get Jimbo" and he delivered. How is that a bad thing? They finished top 5 this year

Yeah, I'm not sure what that guy was talking about. Apparently now it is the responsibility of the AD to hand pick and hire assistants for the head coaches. Even ones who are 1 year removed from going 15-0. In my view, the AD is responsible for PR, making sure the money is right and going out and making head coaching hires. Maybe that has shifted now.

I think the head coach is responsible for choosing his coach and getting him to come on board, within certain parameters. It's the AD's job to negotiate the actual contract and terms.

The issue is the play-by-play leaks. Ed needs to have a solid hire sewn up in 48 hours to fix the optics.

It was the Saints that leaked Neilson that’s why the first person with the story was a NFL reporter not anyone that has been connected to LSU previously.

I say give Raymond a shot at this point. One year deal and see what he can do. Cant be any worse than last season. If he does great extend his contract and give him a bump. If he doesn't send him back to DB's and make another hire next year.

Said it a million times and I'll say it again: Why does this guy get so much rope with assistant hires to continue to frick them up? Do they feel sorry for them or feel like they have to make him do something considering he gets paid millions to recruit, rah rah, and basically let assistants do his job?

Issue is Orgeron telling the media that he's honed in on a specific guy...twice...before it's done

This. Keep your mouth shut until it’s done. Does he not realize he is doing all the leveraging for the guy to get more money? I mean negotiating 101

It's like nobody remembers before Ed O, that Tigerdropping's members and LSU boosters were always clamoring for more transparency. I remember when people said transparency was a requirement for the next coach. It was so important to us that Ed O mentioned it on his first day as coach.

Well now we got what we wanted and we are bitching about it. Ed O is too honest on some things (publicly throws players under the bus, etc) and to transparent about what his plan is and it sets him up for failure.

But, I wont let everybody forget that this is what we asked for and what we have. Can't blame Coach O for doing one of the things we said was very important to us.

Issue is the lack of understanding of those two items above and not actively working other angles.

Tell us what other angles they should be working.

One thing we can ALL agree on (with O) is that he should not be talking about DC until guy is signed.

All true. No matter who you believe screwed up where with the Nielsen situation, no one would care if they didn’t know everything that was happening. O has to stop talking, and even though it would be less interesting for us during the hunt, Woodward has got to tighten up the fricking leaks.

What makes them look much worse is that we are missing on hires that do not make sense from the start. Had he been able to hire the Saints DL coach to be the DC, we would not have a single coach on the staff that has worked as a coordinator.

The strategy of hire the best coordinators does not appear to be even on the table.

Why? He hasn’t mentioned any names. All he’s said is they were close.

frick that. If we were going to give Raymond a shot, it should have been by firing Bo at mid-season and making him the interim DC. There are too many other qualified candidates out there to make a move like that.

He doesn’t have to. The athletic dept leaking like a fricking sieve insures that everyone knows when it’s said that he’s after one particular candidate. They go hand in hand and both need to stop.

Maybe because the season just ended and he realized he had been talking to lsu.

A more seasoned coach left,so payton then promoted nielsen.

This might've happened anyway when Dan Campbell left. This is how coaching changes work

The Saints counter offer was strong......I get that. The Freeman jump to ND stings, but much of it was about his personality being drawn north of the Mason Dixon line.

Exactamundo! I'm sure as part of his due diligence, he sought to discover what type fan base LSU has. Whether the deep south red state had really evolved. He found his way to TD. Oh my God! He was probably shocked and horrified.

Naw man. Peyton and Loomis did it just to screw LSU. Don’t you get it? Everything and everyone is against da Tigahs. The refs, the SEC, the NCAA, the NFL, even God hates da Tigahs. Boo hoo everybody hates us and I’m done with all of them.

It’s as if they’ve never even observed hiring processes at any level in any industry.
