Lay it out for me. When people bring up Fedora, they're downvoted relentlessly. So for you people that are hating the idea of Fedora, please explain yourself.

Do you guys not take in consideration what type of resources he would have at LSU? Then consider how much improvement there's been since he's gotten to UNC.

He's 32-19 at UNC. Highest head coach winning percentage since Dick Crum from 78-87.

UNC hasn't won the ACC in football since 1980. Tar Heels were in the ACC Championship game in Fedoras 4th year.

Under Fedora, Southern Miss notched the four most prolific offensive seasons in its 100-year football history. His players also graduated at a higher rate than at any time in school history.

Wins at S. Miss -- 7, 7, 8, 12

Only issue would be maybe defense, but again, with the resources and the ability to hire the right coaches (or retain them), I wouldn't see that being an issue.

Simple, his name isnt Tom Herman. Thats who everyone on here has pretty much sold out for. Any other name will be attacked by Hermanites.

Until -IF- he is in Austin. Then theyll be all ears.

I'm not neccessarily anti-Fedora under certain circumstances, but his defenses have been unequivocally bad and yes that is a legit concern

UT is about to make our decision a little easier by snatching Herman.

I still think you go all out for Herman.
But I'm warming up to the Fedora possibility. I would hope he would have the sense to keep Aranda though. Aranda as DC is prolly good for 6-7 wins by itself

Because they want O or maybe Herman.

Fedora, while not super hyped, is a solid coach and would be above a 7-1 or 8-0 Ogeron honestly.

He isn't a Tier 1 coach, but if that small Tier 1 of Herman, Fisher, or Kelly don't work out/aren't possible, then I think he's in that next group that would be a totally sensible hire.

You misspelled Petrino.

The 49ers aren't firing their coach for the 3rd year in a row and Chip isn't going back to college unless he has no other option.

They had the ball for 10 minutes less than FSU on Saturday and blew a 3 TD lead. They easily could've lost. His defense is bad because of his offensive philosophy, which is pretty concerning and he doesn't seem to care.
quote:

“I mean, anytime your defense is playing too many plays,” Fedora said. “Whatever that time is. Whenever they get worn down. But I don’t know, I’ll still take points over time of possession. So as long as we’re scoring points and we’re outscoring the opponent, we’re OK.”

That’s Fedora’s approach. It won’t change.

quote:

Since Fedora became the head coach in 2012, UNC has never ranked higher than 108th in time of possession. And so Jones and his teammates on defense are used to this sort of thing. They understand that they’ll be on the field more often – and for longer stretches, especially, if they can’t stop the opposition.

He is 70-40 as a HC with teams that were 65-50 before he got there. That is not a bad resume but it is a pretty marginal gain. I think you'd have to go pretty far down the list before you got to him. Top 30 coach maybe?

This is a helpful philosophy at a Southern Miss or a North Carolina, but I don't know if this kind of thing is the right fit for an LSU. For all we know he may not bring that exact same philosophy here though.

I would be interesting to know how much what he does did or didnt change going from USM to UNC

trended up and won at least 11 games by year 4 in both places. If he wins 11 again at UNC this year that's 3.

Valid point but would he make it at LSU to year 4 winning 8 or 9 games? He was status quo the first three years at both places.

Well, considering the fanbase has already come to accept ed orgeron as head coach I may have to just get behind Fedora.

We're settling either way, might as well settle for someone who will light up the score board.
