Schiano was #1 on our list but we are willing to throw 8m a year at Gundy.

Desperate or not Tennessee has the dumbest leadership in all of college football.

The size of the rebuild at UT is bigger than the one at Aggie and the PR clusterfrick around it is bigger, too.

Get some talent in there quick and I can see Gundy going 10-2 easy with those two losses being Georgia and Bama. Keep building from there and I see 12-0 potential.

Schiano was #1 because the AD and top booster were whacking off at the chance of getting him.

That kind of mindset is why the top booster’s pro team has gone about 2-24 the past two seasons.

Gundy >>> Schiano.

If that's the guys they want, pay him whatever it takes to get him.

Haslam tried to get Schiano at Cleveland before the GM shut it down. There was never an actual search or anyone else involved in the decision. It was smokescreens and general misinformation.

They used Gruden as a smokescreen and tried to sneak Schiano through the backdoor. fricking retarded.

This would be quite the turn of events. That is a frickton of skrilla, more per year than we are throwing at Jimbo

I’ve always thought Gundy was a great coach though and would have been great with him at A&M. If that’s what it takes to dig yourself out of hiring a coordinator and getting an established successful P5 coach you do it

Just texted my OSU buddy and he's worried as shite. Said on paid site the mods confirmed that they've already met and a plane left from Knoxville for Stillwater this morning....

I think Gundy would be the best hire of any school, even better than Chip

Gundy has put Okie state in the national picture 3 seasons in years in which they finished ranked 10, 3, and 10.

That is unheard of for that program

Chip hasnt coached college football in 5 years

Would be a great hire.

At this point, however, Gundy has all the leverage. He's gonna get PAID.

Will be an excellent hire though for sure.

Gotta pony up to get a top tier coach. And Gundy is certainly that.

After Dooley and Butch, they need someone proven rather than an up and comer and Gundy is about as good as you will get because no one is getting Saban and I don’t see Stoops coming out of retirement.

Gundy has a very Tennessee look about him. I think it's a fit.

Don't see him winning meaningful games in the SEC by throwing the ball 65 times and just out scoring everyone

They average 39 pass attempts a game and 36 rush attempts a game...top 50 passing offense (#1) and top 50 rushing offense (#50)

2.75 rushing TD a game / 2.92 Passing TD a game
They average 27.5 yards a game less on the ground than LSU does and LSU has no where near the passing attack that Oklahoma State does.

Oh and they have 8 more rushing TD's than LSU as well

Mike Gundy would be a home run hire and LSU should have gone after him last year.

Not too worried. If he leaves it will be a huge blow no doubt. Gundy’s buyout is only $3 million.

I don't think that he'll leave because he has it made in the shade in Stillwater, and his whole family is from OK. His kids are in high school and middle school. He's said before he's only probably got 5-6 more years in him.

That said, if they are offering to double his salary, he'll certainly listen...he might even take it.

I have to believe (maybe delusionally) that he'll stay b/c of the above and b/c of his love for OSU and desire to continue to build onto his legacy.

I disagree. Okie State will ALWAYS be in the Boomer shadow. I can see Gundy wanting to be the big dog in state with the enormous resources of Tennessee behind him. His challenge is overcoming the lack of 4/5* recruits in TN, and will have to go out of state like Fulmer did successfully.

Good points, except for one. The state of Tennessee is producing bumper crops of 4/5* recruits nowadays, and they can also pull from nearby talent pools. Gundy can get all the talent he'll need at UT.

UT has a good roster and 2018 recruiting class. Despite the bad 2017 season, it's not a major rebuild project.

Reportedly, Gundy was recruiting yesterday, and will meet with Currie today.

I wonder if FSU might also be interested in Gundy or just roll with Taggart. Taggart is a great fit and would crawl to FSU.
