wrong. That’s bull shite.
PFF says 2018 LSU operated out of the shotgun something like 80% of the time.
As I said, your narrative is revisionist history.

Burrow barely played under center at all in 2018.
67% shotgun
The 2019 offense was like 98% shotgun
The protections were much different. Ditched the full back. Route concepts were heavily upgraded. RB became involved in passing game.
This was all Joe Brady

You can't sit here and tell me that chase and burrow were the same players in 2018 as they were in 2019.
Obviously the numbers would've been better if brady was here in 2018 but they still would've gone through that year of growth.
Burrow would tell you the same thing. He hadn't played for 3 years.
He got better throughout the year and you could see by the ucf game that he was a different qb.

Don’t let the facts get in your way
“LSU ran 96.1% of its plays from the shotgun in 2019, a far cry from the 67.1% of plays it ran from the shotgun in 2018.”

End of story then.

He didn’t get better as the season went on. It’s an excuse even if Joe is making it. He played well against shitty teams and poorly against good teams because the scheme sucked.

He was also a “different QB” vs Ole Miss then?

If Brady is the hire, then great. Kelly has a good eye for assistant coaches and I’ll support it. Brady brought new concepts and really evolved the offense in 2019, no doubt.
But you can’t just ignore any apparent faults because of the 2019 team.
(Not directed at you LE, just in general)

Those numbers are including quarterback knees and LSU pounding the ball late in blowouts which almost exclusively came from single back and I formation sets.
The percentages outside of "garbage time" are somewhere between 75% and 80%, depending on which stat service you believe.
The major difference I noticed from 2018 to 2019 was they'd operate more from the shotgun inside the redzone whereas in 2018 they'd try to pound the ball from the I formation, especially inside the 5.

I hope Brady comes just so we get an answer on who was really leading the 2019 offense

think it's more realistic to say that a bunch of first time starters got experience, Burrow actually got to know the team, and the offensive line situation stabilized versus a first time offensive coach flipped college football on its head.
Kirby and several other defensive coaches said LSU wasn't doing anything "special" scheme wise, they just had elite talent.
All of this is true.

Joe burrow didn't get better as that 2018 season went along?
Did you watch the games. He was a fompl3tely different qb by the end of that ucf game.
Of course ensminger's offense wasn't up to date but to act like brady would've come into the building in 2018 and won a championship is disingenuous.

You're comparing 5th year senior Joe Burrow to junior Myles Brennan getting his first starts for 3 games, then two true freshman the rest of the way with all three having very little offseason?
Not to mention an offense that replaced something like 9/11 starters.
Jesus.

Okay, choose any of the 19 previous seasons we had E on staff if you prefer
ETA plus I’ve been told that the talent Brady has had in Carolina is no excuse so which is it

Do you remeber the crap offense we had in 2018 un Ensminger even with all the same guys. Joe Brady brought a new playbook, turned the WRs into 1st round picks.
To deny Brady didn't turn the LSU offense into a force is stupid. Explain the jump from 2018 to 2019?
Brady has to deal with horrible QBS at Carolina and the only weapon they have is McAffrey.he was fired because the offense sux and rhule has to do something to save his job also.

Steve Ensminger wasn't at LSU for 19 years, dumbass.

I didn't tell you that.
Joe Brady, as a coach, is probably somewhat between 2019 LSU and 2020-21 Carolina.

I don’t love made up stats
Stats are stats for a reason

Kirby pointed out we ran 20+ plays without ever substituting.
I think our players improved from '18 to '19 and would have had Brady never set foot on campus.
But I don't think there would have been this all-time great offense without Brady.
Had we scored say 14 pts vs. Bama in '18 and say 28 in '19, that would be akin to player improvement. But to go from shutout to record setting would seem to be more than just player improvement. That seems a reach.

I never liked Ensminger as an OC, but in fairness, the offense was very good in 2020 until Brennan got hurt.
Main problem with Ensminger is that his offense and his playcalling died in the red zone.
