You really need to ask this?

Family lives in Houston
Houston less of a shithole
Slightly more money
Slightly higher ceiling

Yes, I was genuinely curious.

I heard his press conference in Houston. The thing he stressed was that Houston was in the process of building a first class football only facility whereas at Tulane, such a facility has been promised but it never materialized.

That is the main reason.

Also, his recommendation for AD was ignored.

It wasn’t about his own salary because Tulane was able to match that.

Per Nola.com, Sumrall has interviewed and wants the job. Don’t screw this up, Tulane

Agree. If it goes well you might only get him for 2-3 years but who cares. Tulane just needs to continue this string of success however it can to continue building an actual program that is part of the school’s fabric.

As someone said on Twitter, the Sumrall leak appears to be intentional to pressure the administration into doing this.
From that Nola.com article, they also mentioned the Florida A&M coach, which would be a terrible selection compared to Sumrall. Being a long-time Tulane fan, my conspiracy theory says that assistant AD Goshe was pushing for the Florida A&M guy, so the Sumrall news was leaked to stop that. I hope.

We should have kicked Gosha to the curb the second that Fritz left. Dude seems like a nuisance

Something stinks about this entire search. If Sumrall really wanted it they should have given him his contract on the spot

I guess I’ve been a Tulane fan for too long and watched them frick this up more than once

If Sumrall interviewed, WANTS this job, and is not making some crazy outrageous demands, and they don't hire him...

Yikes

(Assuming they don't hire someone totally out of left field that is generally considered "better")

Sumrall taking it, done deal. Or as done as these things can be prior to the press conference. Great hire for Tulane.

No notes. I'm cool with the hire.

I personally found the Calhoun hire more intriguing but I totally get the Sumrall hire.

Really? They must be paying him a lot or offering other incentives because I dont think Tulane is that much of a better spot than Troy

Troy is paying him 825k while fritz was making 3 million a year.

I would think that Tulane could offer 1.5-2 million a year and if he was successful at Tulane for two years or so he could turn that into a 5 million dollar SEC/ACC job.

Are you high?

Tulane is a much much better spot than Troy. He’s going to get like 3-4x the money

Unless I am wrong, the only place this could be built on campus is on the North end of the stadium on the little half turf practice field.
