actually he does have A BETTER RESUME than Mullen or Fedora to be HEAD COACH AT LSU. He doesn't have a better resume than them to be a head coach at any other school in the country, but he does have a better resume than them to be head coach at LSU.
Annnnnnd this is what's wrong with a good portion of our fan base. Dear sweet baby Jesus you're stupid.

Why should Ed Orgeron get the job over those two based on resume's?
I'll play. He is a better recruiter than both. He has coached with some of the best in the business. he has resources/contacts to put together as good a staff as anyone. If he wins out, He will have beaten more top 25 teams in his 6-1 stint at lsu than larry fedora has in his career.
Larry Fedora's record against the top 25 is a poultry (2-6)against ranked teams at the time they played and 0-3 against teams that finished the season ranked. not including the many losses to unranked teams.
In all fairness, it looks like he will improve his record to 1-3 or 1-4 as FSU should finished ranked this year. If Vtech finishes ranked, then it's 1-4.
While mullen has a better resume and record than Ogeron's, Larry fedora's is not impressive at all. Ogeron's time at ole miss was in the toughest division in college football. Fedora's is in the worst division of all the power 5 conferences.
Let's hire ole larry since he finally beat a team that finished in the top 25 for the first time in his career. He's on the rise, baby!

He took Clemson to the wire last year with his top 10 team in the ACC Championship game.... I'm guessing you're one of the ones who thinks Fisher isn't a good coach too.

Well, if we're looking at teams that finish the season ranked, then it's likely that Orgeron won't have any.

Not during his time there.

Why didn't he use those resources at Ole Miss?
The man went 3-21 in conference play. How the frick is that possible?

so, ogeron taking Alabama to the wire doesn't count but good ole larry taking Clemson to the wire does? Alabama is > Clemson.
p.s. Fisher is good, he's been part of two n.c.'s. I'm not against him.

It's NORTH CAROLINA. LSU>>>>>>>>NCU
Not to mention they were slapped with sanctions because of his predecessor. He's been fighting sanctions, a week football school, and a week recruiting base and still managed to put a top 10 team on the field. Riddle me that Batman.
Let's be clear though, he's not my first choice. But he's better than O.

HIRE LES MILES! NO COACH IN THE COUNTRY HAS A BETTER RECORD AS LSU HEAD COACH THAN HIM!

Why didn't he use those resources at Ole Miss
Ogeron didn't perform well at ole miss. That's a fact. We are talking about how he can out perform larry fedora and mullen. He would be leading a better program, that attracts better coaches, with more resources, better recruiting base, etc. all these things could make him perform better than those two.
We aren't talking about larry fedora and Dan Mullen being nick saban and Urban meyer. It's pretty sad If we are considering these two guys as the best we can do. if you are going for average coaches like fedora and mullen, then hell, give ogeron a chance. he can improve to the average level. Personally, I'd want someone who can be great.
My point, you have set your standards to low when talking Mullen and Fedora. If you want them over O, Then you aren't any better than the people who want O. Average is Average. Give me the better recruiter for the next guy to have something to work with. Over those two who aren't known for recruiting. At least if you have talent and good assistants you can achieve good results. If you have marginal talent and average coaching, it could be a disaster.

Larry fedora has NEVER FINISHED IN THE TOP 10.
Riddle that!
By the way, it's UNC not NCU

I think the appeal is if you compare Mullen, Fedora, and O (ole miss) you see that both of those coaches have better records and have done much better than O did at similar type programs. Mullen can work with QBs, Fedora can gameplan well.
I mean you can say its dumb to root for these two over O, but their resumes say we should. They have proven they can run lower level programs when O has not.
So why is it terrible to want these guys over O? What has O done to prove he is a better option between the 3?

see, but your only comparing Ole Miss. you can't cherry pick because you don't like O. You have to include USC and LSU. Those two have never run a major program. O has run two major programs in the midst of turmoil and succeeded both times. You can't say he hasn't improved to some degree to accomplish that.

Fedora record less than impressive abd even less with his defenses. With Daks success in NFL is Mullins a good coach or is he more like Curley Hallman with Favre?O took over a program with no players and couldn't turn it around. At lsu O has won 3 of 4 of his SEC games. It's not as simple to separate the 3

Larry fedora has NEVER FINISHED IN THE TOP 10. They went 11-3 with ZERO wins against the top 25 in 2015. He finished the season ranked 15th.
So Fedora has over half the career wins as O in one season? Good point

I guess we should hire Jim Leavitt, he had south florida ranked #2 at one point.

Mullen has been rejected by every big time program on search for a new HC. His coordinators leave left and right. His name should be taken off the list.

So by your logic, O should get the job over more successful head coaches because he's gone 4-1 in a down year for the SEC. Has beaten 3 SEC teams with the highest national defensive ranking being Arkansas at 77th? Is there any doubt that Les Miles would've done nearly the exact same thing? You're wanting to hire a coach over more qualified coaches for beating the piss out of shitty teams.

Did you not read what I Wrote above?
I wouldn't even give mullen or fedora a thought. Ogeron would be my fall back guy. I would interview Jimbo, Franklin, Herman, Gundy, inquire NFL assistants that coached in college like Todd Monken, chip Kelley, etc. I think I get a coach out of that list. If I can't strike a deal and have to go to these b list coaches, then I would take Ogeron over Mullen and Fedora. I believe he can do as well or better than them.
