Coaching Updates:

- #Lions OC Ben Johnson "has the lead" on the #Panthers head coaching job.

- #Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon is the frontrunner for the #Texans job.

#Colts might stick with Jeff Saturday as the permanent head coach, via @jjones9

Jeff Saturday LMAO.

If I were a Colts fan and they decided to keep him I think I would legitimately not be a fan of theirs as long as he was their coach.

Not sure how old you are. That is not a shot at you by no means. But the the Irsay Family is worse than the Ford Family owning the Lions Franchise. Jim Irsay doesn't care what the correct or good move is. He just does what he wants and he doesn't care.

Besides all the racism stuff that I'll have to hear about if the Colts stick with Saturday, going 1-7 as interim should never be good enough to land you the permanent job. RIP Colts

See if my goal is to tank for a new QB as part of a full rebuild I would want to hire the worst possible coach "Major League" style to ensure we lose any close games.

These teams that mess around winning 7-8 games during a rebuild like the Lions just did are only putting themselves further behind with regard to what needs to be done.

Level the team from a roster standpoint, build it back up with youth and draft a QB during a 3 or so year rebuild before trying to compete.

Who said the lions are in a rebuild? That’s a decent roster

The Lions already tanked as hard as anyone has

They’ve got a really nice young talent roster that almost made the playoffs. Goff isn’t the answer but he also doesn’t stop them from finding the answer

The NFL is not like the NBA. The top talent in the NFL draft is still a complete crapshoot, especially at QB.

Being in the middle class of the NFL is not the death sentence that it is in other sports. In a lot of cases it’s a stepping stone to bigger success.

They gonna compete in the playoffs with that group and Goff at QB?

No.

They need a young franchise QB to develop on a rookie deal and they won’t ever get a good one drafting middle of the pack winning 7 games.

You gonna pay him $35M/year?
NFL QB Salaries

Or do you move on, draft a young guy who makes $7M/yr on a rookie deal and try to win something beyond a wildcard game before you have to blow it up again?

I think you give him another year at least to see if they can keep the momentum you ended the year on going.
