So what exactly does Dooley do well as a coach?

He's a young guy, energetic, who recruited well while at LSU during the "resurrection". Beyond that, what really qualifies him for a head job in the SEC?

He's a non-doosh version of Lane Kiffen

Honestly, nothing right now. He has the opportunity to become a great coach but he's just not there yet. This was just UT wanting to hire a guy they know will be loyal to their team and has a bit of an upside. We'll see how it works out but as of now, he doesn't deserve this job.

That's like saying something is a non-wet version of water.

if you understood what shambles that program was in before him, you'd realize that he got them up on their feet in a hurry and had players, fans, alumni, and others in the WAC believing that in a few years Tech would be legit.
He's a hell of a speaker. One speach and you'll want to strap on the pads and put it all on the line for the guy.

isnt his record the same as jack bicknell's last 3 years?

what was Kiffin's resume before being hired by TN?
about as good if not worse than Dooley's
TN knew the risk in hiring Lane, Dooley is at least a safe hire.

Even the Good Lord Almighty Saban couldn't turn LATech into a powerhouse overnight.

I love all these people hating on Dooley now but know absolutely nothing about him except his last name and his record.

-NFL HC
-USC OC
-brought his future NFL HOF defensive coach with him
all better than being a TE coach and a .500 record in a shitty conference
I thought the kiffin hire sucked, but his resume and things he brought with him are much better than anything dooley offers
