Nothing would be a downgrade from the moron currently in charge. Napier is a good coach, but he does not appear to be at the top of Woody's list. And you don't throw up, panic, shite your pants and offer him the job just because Florida interviewed him today.

But LSU is superior…..why does it bother you that LSU is only 2 years removed from a NC with 4 appearances and 3 wins in the 2000s?

It’s an elite job. Don’t be dense.

But, you are pushing Aranda.

Aranda and Napier are similar "up and coming" hires.

Very different coaches and one has a NC ring.

One also is excelling at a P5 school beating top 10 teams.

That said, you are correct in making a comparison.

My comment is aimed at the OP, not Napier.

Which team is firing their third coach in a row with the ring and which team is firing their third failed coach in a row?

In the last ~20 years, Florida has made 5 hires with a 0.69 winning percentage, LSU has made 3 with a .758. One will go down as the GOAT, one was an unexciting hire but won games, one was a bad hire. They all won a championship. Florida had two more chances to make good hires than LSU in that timeframe and failed outside of CUM, and when LSU failed, we lucked into one of the greatest seasons a football team has ever had.

Also, LSU is 13-7 against UF in that timeframe. I like our chances.

If that happens, moneybags needs to pack up his personal items in a box and get ready to move on.

It really doesn't matter where he is coaching if he has great experience and contacts in the coaching and recruiting worlds. It's not like he is a hometown boy and was educated and trained at ULL. Instead he practiced his theories and gained experience at ULL where he has been successful, but not wildly successful. That would have meant multiple league championships. Being ranked in Top 25 is very nice, but tainted by a less than difficult schedule when compared to Power 5, or even some Group of 5. But he evidently knows talent & can scheme well enough to beat a lot of other smaller schools, and an occasional bigger school. I like him and think he might be the real deal, especially since he has assistant experience at some big programs & learned from some great coaches. I say give him a try and let ULL hire someone that hopefully can continue their recent successes.

Last year Coastal Carolina chickened out of the championship game . That's why he had to settle for a co-championship

Just answering that guy's question.

Coastal beat a team down 6 defensive starters due to covid on a walk off fg then skipped the championship game due to 1 assistant coach testing positive.

Napier is winning in the Sun Belt with mid level Big 12 talent. I am not impressed at all. ULL has every advantage in the SBC. He will not have that luxury anywhere else he goes in big boy football. We simply can not take that chance.

He may be the next Nick Saban, but nope, not where our program is now.
