Because LSU has shown their arrogance. They think they are above these “middling coaches”. Reality has a big stick and is about to slap them in the face when they get turned down by Riley, etc. Aranda goes to USC. Napier goes to Florida and they end of up with Bill O’Brien.

Because LSU has higher standards than Florida for their next football coach. Pretty easy to understand, actually, if you had thought about it before posting this.
And let's stop all this "all-or-nothing" stuff where a guy is either your top pick or the bottom of the garbage heap. You can say that Napier is a very good up and coming coach and at the same time say that right now is perhaps not the time for him to be LSU's top target.
If LSU winds up hiring him, fine. But don't act like if they don't that it somehow means the LSU AD and boosters making a statement that Napier is a trash tier coach. Good grief.

What is it with some of you people over there in Lafayette and your apparent inferiority complex? Plenty of people on this board, including me, would be happy with Napier at LSU.

Say what you want about the end of the Les Miles era. But he had the most successful run of any coach in LSU history.
So it is idiotic to say now that it was not a good hire.
He did win the SECw in year 1. Won it 3 times, 2 SEC titles, a national title and played for another. Never had a losing season.
While the game passes him bye and we probably let him go a year or 2 late, there is absolutely no metric that would suggest he was a bad hire.

At this point, there are better choices out there. However, I don’t think those better choices want to be head coach for a school with one of the worst, most delusional fan base and administration that would fire them if they don’t make the playoff every year.
But, if they don’t want to come here then Napier is easily my top choice of the second tier coaches. Him and Aranda are two that I won’t mind seeing announced as LSU head coach.
