To be honest, I think that the pay at LSU is better. Besides that there isn't much of a difference. Pelini was a head coaching candidate prior to coming to LSU. What he did at LSU solidified that (and even more so, probably what happened at Nebraska when they shunned him). the pay for coordinators at LSU is currently more than at AU, maybe not by much. But, it is more. But, that doesn't mean that everyone will take the LSU job over the AU job. But, the fact that Pelini parlayed that into a head coaching gig good play a big factor.

after doing some digging I am reading the coordinators at Auburn are in line to make around $425K next season, so I think you are right regarding the pay being more at LSU

I think Muschamp is one of the best in the business but it would really have surprised me to see coach Miles bring in a coach that worked for Saban. I think that would hit a nerve with Miles. Just my opinion.

You don't think this would make Muschamp even more desireable for Miles? Advantages in understanding Saban game plans and defensive strategies. After all the student beat the master this year in the Iron Bowl.

He was slated to be the highest paid asst. Coach in the SEC at the above figure. Oh well, he did a great job for us, but we will find someone to replace him.

According to Phillip Marshall Muschamp would have been the highest paid assistant in the SEC so pay obviously wasn't the issue. Oh well I'm over it already.

LSU job far greater than au. we are in nc with 2 losses. you guys go undefeated and dont go . LSU whether you believe it or not is tied to new orleans in medias eyes. we got THE FOOD, THE MUSIC, MARDI GRAS ATMOSPHERE 24-7, DID I SAY THE FOOD. LSU- NOLA KNOWN AROUND THE WORLD. aubbies are know in the south of U.S. i'm sorry to tell it to ya but aubbie is like starkville ms. and thats the bottom line

I live in Alabama now, not too far from Auburn. I can assure you that Auburn isn't a thing like Starkville. Auburn is really an attractive town and it isn't too far away from Montgomery. The school pales in comparison to LSU, but the town is actually quite nice.

I think Tubbs really runs the defense over there anyway. The defense seemed fine whoever was the coordinator.

Jesus Christ, are you too stupid to see the complete different seasons in which these 2 things occurred?
Anyway, I don't think there was any way in hell WM was coming back to LSU. Because coaches just don't go back to jobs they've already had unless they absolutely have to. I've said it before, but that profession is about moving forward, not taking a job you had 3 years earlier. I understand wanting to coach under Mack Brown. He is one of the 2 best program builders in college football. Will could learn a lot from him about how to run a program. That's 3 pretty good HCs he'd have worked under. And Austin is probably the nicest city in the South.

Yeah, I didn't think he'd come back but it would have been nice. I heard he wanted to stay when Les came on but Les didn't want him on the staff. Don't know if that is true though. But, coaching with Mack will look good on his resume.

He should get to run his defense, hes been running Tubbys and Nicks. At UT we get to see what he has.
