The Padres want to trade Greene, probably in a separate deal.

Yeah, I just read that. I'm not sure what the Braves would do at short. Plus, they would almost have to add a quality bat in LF to make up for some of the lost offense.

Speaking of LF, Holliday in the Cardinals lineup might mean some sick seasons for Pujols.

And just how bad do the Padres want to suck in '09?

if we trade escobar i will be very upset. guy has a brighter future than peavy.

Only if Peavy's arm is shot. He's still young and and a top 5 MLB pitcher > a SS who hits .300 with 15 homeruns and 75 RBI. Would the Padres play him at 2nd, or would the Braves be getting Khalil Greene too?

Damn, I wanted to make this joke.

jefferson to take 50 percent of snaps

you got that out of this?

Miles said true freshman Jordan Jefferson has taken 50 percent of the snaps in practice this week and is in line for playing time against Alabama.

You should really change the thread title

I'm an LSU fan and this thread sucks. Talking shite about their schedule? Please.

Well, people would give us a shot had we actually blade Georgia and Florida extremely close. However we got spank and humiliated or in the words of a Bama fan ."

Florida spanked us, but Georgia only beat us by 14 points. We were in that game till 5 minutes left.

Ok. If you are speaking of future opportunity then, still there should be no question. Miles and Crowton put the guys out there who give us the best opportunity to succeed. He isn't the best now, if he is in the future, he will be given that opportunity.

We're on the same page. Sorry for being a dick.
I'm assuming Giambi and Abreu won't be re-signed, so the Yankees do need another bat.

Ummm.....he has had that opportunity. It's called practice and coaches evaluations. He's not the best...unless you're saying that your evaluation is better than Crowton and Miles...surely that's not what you're saying is it?

I'm saying if that's what you got from my post you aren't very intelligent.

that is a very thin frontcourt. Are we going to be pushing it up the floor Loyola Marymount style?

Lee is more the future than Jefferson will ever be

I just don't see how anyone can say this right now.

By the way, Lee is the future... just to let you know.

He may very well be. He might wind up being a 4-year starter. But it's not his birthright just because his dad didn't pull out 1 year before Jefferson's dad. Jefferson should get every opportunity to win the job. Let the best man win, not just the older one.

We will have played this season without a significant night game at Tiger Stadium.

The Ole Miss game could have a lot riding on it.

But you are right it is hard to blow out anyone when the defense allows the other team 28 or 35 points!

Alabama's offense is nowhere near as good as Florida's or Georgia's. And I'm not predicting a blowout, just saying that if everything goes right, it can happen. I don't, however, think Alabama can blow us out. I don't think they have that kind of firepower. Unless they score 21 points on defense.

read the link any?

I believed you, I was just trying to make a point that it didn't make any sense.

the 2 most overrated plays in baseball history" the jeter flip to get jeremy giambi and the jeter "dive" into the stands.

the dive play was routine, but I think the flip--like Jeter--was so overrated that it's now underrated. That was a great play.

or

3/$75 mil

This doesn't make any sense to me. Why would he take the 2 year deal? Are you sure it wasn't 3 years at 65 or 70 mil? But they know he's not going to take either, and I don't think they want him to. This seems like a move strictly to appease the fans.

agreed. That was a horrible argument. It's a travesty those 2 don't play every year.

I doubt jefferson passes. No need to create a qb controversy.

I was thinking something like what RP did against Virginia Tech
I think not turning the ball over--especially early--is critical. But that's no secret. I think another thing would be if we can take an early 7-10 point lead and keep the crowd in the game throughout the 1st half, we might roll. I actually think we could blow them out.
