You people will never learn. Riley was never coming to LSU. It was never more than a fantastical rumor that was given life by gullible people. Woodward wasn't played, 80% of this Board was played.

The reason why I hold same stance and believe OP is Jimmy Smoth tweeting out this morning it wasn't Riley and never was and their other big names. Then goes on to list Campbell and Cristobal among others. Neither of those options are bigger than Riley.
So if it's anyone else I consider that a second tier hire and the media is covering for Woodys miss

If Riley "burned" Woodward and he really was coming then Woodward and the gossip queens that he gave the info to are to blame. Without a signature on a contract you can't let that info get out as much as it did. That gives the OU admin time to talk to him, his players, his players' families. It alerts too many people on the other side to start working against us. So if its true how it all went down then Woodward isn't the guy we thought he is and all these little loose lip message board celebrities sunk this thing.

Yep. Recruits and their families were probably just running with the same bad info that this board was running with. Nobody in an official position with the university said anything. And they wouldn’t until the contract was signed.

For the millionth time, compare this to the D coordinator search with Freeman and Nielsen. Guys like Dellenger, Miller, Rabalais, actual insiders/reporters with real sources, were reporting the deals were basically done. And then we got burned.
Where were those guys this time? Mum. And in fact Ravalais and Dellinger said last night/today that they basically don’t know where all the Riley stuff came from. It certainly didn’t come from Woodward or anyone high up in the athletic dept.
Believe what you want, but it seems like there was some preliminary discussions/talks with Riley and a couple of people picked it up and brought it here. And it just became rumor anonymous sources circle jerk.

What I'm hearing is that Riley got really frustrated with LSU officials for leaking this stuff. Especially the seemingly coordinated social media stuff. He felt like that was Woodward trying to speed up things when he was trying to focus on finishing the season.
But the thinking was that it would have only mattered if OU won, and he would have gotten over it with a loss...looks like he didn't.
So now the question is who really orchestrated the whole thing? Woodward trying to get him to commit? LSU boosters that didn't want him? Agent of a coach LSU was slow playing while waiting for Riley?
