les is listening to billy g. these are guy's he's worked with.

Chaney is another guy frank has worked with. Les is obviously including his staff in this hire.

Chaney would be stellar compared to the recent names.

I'd be happy with Sanford.

Are we going straight QB coach, or are we going OC who also coaches QBS?

Seems like he is focused on getting a QB coach. But I really would like Fuente.

Only Les knows for sure. And maybe he doesn't even know.

You can have the best OC in the world but if he can't work with les it does not matter

why would he bring in a QB coach when it's all dependent on how bad Jordan wants to be great?

to pacify people like you who believe it's the coaches ability that will make jordan great.

great qb coach and jordan is all s.e.c. next year, right?

clearly, bc otherwise it's a huge waste of money accd to some morons

W/ a great QB coach grooming his guys, chances are they'll be a lot better than learning on their own or just winging it w/ their will to be great

yep, craig loston and eric reed is a perfect example. same coaching. the player with, supposedly more ability and experience, was beat out by the true freshman. i guess cooper just didn't teach c.l. as well as he did eric.

Who are you speaking for? Certainly not Miles who has seemingly performed this search around candidates with QB coaching experience.

Preach it to Miles and every team in the NFL w/ a wasted position coach on staff

I'm speaking for dos who believes QBs need no coaching or development as long as they have the will to be great.

you're not speaking for me big guy. Be accurate if you are going to speak for me.

What I have said is players and their ability/desire to be great trumps coaching. I didn't saying they didn't need any coaching. The great player will take the coaching and work at being great.

you can have the best qb coach in the country, if he doesn't have a qb with talent and a desire to be great then he wont be able to do much with him.

you think saban would be considered a great coach, coaching at vandy? he doesn't win a n.c. or s.e.c. championship.

i've given numerous examples of qb's from miami ohio (big ben), arena football (warner), souther miss, favre, navy (Staubach), la tech (bradshaw), eastern illinois (romo), east carolina (dave garrard), delaware (flaco).

if it's coaching that made these players, then there are better coaches at smaller schools. And, you have to consider curley hallman and his qb coach a great developer of qb's. what i'm saying is it's not all coaching. coaching is a part not THE PART.

Bp had said months ago that Leach and Kragthorpe were at the top of Les' list.

The fact that he has not (or at least we havent heard) interviewed Leach tells me its prolly gonna be Kragthorpe

Terrible example. Both top 100 players, and both had very good freshman seasons.

why is it so bad? Craig loston was the consensus #1 safety in the country two years ago. he has a full year in the system before eric reed. reed was considered a very good athlete but not the consensus #1 at his position. yet, reed beat him out and had less time in the system.

my point? same coaching. One has more desire, maturity, whatever you call it to accept the coaching, apply it, and do the work on the field as well as off the field to be the best they can be.

It's a good point. It's impossible to point to one coach or player and say this is why it's bad or good coaching. There are hundreds of variables that have to be taken into account. At some point it is up to the player to get better. A good coach just isn't always enough.

Sure seemed like Jefferson was much sharper in the Cotton Bowl with BG in his ear every time he came off of the field. It gave JJ someone to talk to and listen to directly. Helps to have a coach talking to the QB face to face. I think JJ may have a sense of calm and confidence we did not often see during the season because he had Billy G. to talk to between series.
