its an interesting case

because if UT pushes back against the fans theyre seen as being soft on child sexual assault, so they have to let him go now.

although, if Gruden was at Penn State in the 90s, you wouldn't hear a peep from the UT fanbase about this.

so its def a double standard.

I'm sure he'll take legal action, and in his position he should, speaking objectively. This is a PR disaster for UT and they will no doubt settle to make him go away.

Well I guess we know you are not a lawyer.

It was a memorandum of understanding, not legally enforceable. Nice try.

WestCoastAg that is a completely irresponsible comment to make. Barely a shred of hearsay evidence exists that Schiano had any knowledge of what was happening at Penn St. McQueary said Bradley told him that a coach presumed to be Schiano witnessed something, and both Bradley and Schiano deny that allegation. Based on that only, people assume that he was a part of the Penn St. scandal. Neither the NCAA nor any law enforcement authority pursued any investigation into Schiano because the connection was so attentuated. No conviction and no finding of any wrongdoing. That’s called a witch hunt and not the American way.

/No lawyer, but couldn't he have sued McQueary over the deposition from which this originated?

Or Tom Bradly for that matter?

The only legal action he can take is suing them telling him he had the job, giving him a reason to resign from OSU, and then taking the job away

But once again, that's only if he actually has resigned from his job with OSU

Hold the phone. It sounds like UT may owe him 20 mil since the contract was signed.

I will guarantee you most people don’t know these facts. They are just a rabid mob.

Exactly. He would likely have a claim for detrimental reliance if he had already resigned from OSU and this will probably be settled with a quick but lucrative payday for Schiano.

Who is his agent? Jimmy Sexton may be about to laugh all the way to the bank.

Actions (or inactions) have consequences. He is responsible for his situation. This isn’t Tennessee’s fault.

That would be more action than he took when he walked in on Sandusky fondling a kid in the shower

Not to mention that he touched me when I was a young lad

Legal action against who?

He's talking about Tennessee and the only possible legal suit Schiano "MAY" be able to pursue is for defamation of character. The likelihood of any P5 school touching him probably has been diminished with Sandusky being thrown out there frequently now. No one was really talking that much about that connection recently till sh*t hit the fan in Knoxville. He's a superb recruiter and to be honest, Tennessee with such little in-state talent pool to lean on could use a proven dynamic recruiter.

The whole thing has been one hot mess and I'm definitely entertained. Here I thought LSU and Joe Alleva looked horrible last year during the HC search. The Vols told us to "Hold my beer."

Sounds like an actual reasonable response.

All that means is that they would negotiate with him and him alone. Its has no contractual obligation to it.

He will never get a head coaching job because of this. No school would ever want to consider him now, because of the backlash that may occur.

Maybe he shouldn't let grown men molest little kids. It's his own fault. He's lucky he's a coordinator somewhere and not in jail himself.
