Regressed? Out of power five teams, he has the number five total defense this year.

Saban has hired a lot of guys who stay employed under him then leave elsewhere can't stay anywhere else. If they're a yes man Saban is going to love them.
There has been rumors for awhile now Golding is sick of Saban's shite so I can see why this would be LSU's move.

It would be to replace Mickey Joseph

Alabama is 7th in the country in defensive efficiency this year and the reason they don’t have 3 losses
Golding isn’t a superstar but he’s not a bum, not in the slightest. And his recruiting credentials are out of this world.
I’d prefer Doug Belk or Glenn Schumann but he’s perfectly fine. Think Brent Venables. Maligned at OU under a defensive head coach, reinvents himself at Clemson with total autonomy.

Most of those guys were coming with or without MJ. If hankston was here for the past few years those recruits would be under his name.

All 3 of those guys you just named would be starters and impact players for us

The problem with Golding is he's incredibly inconsistent. If you watch Bama play this is why they melt over him. His defense will give an excellent performance against a high octane offense then the next week TAMU rolls into town and absolutely shreds the defenses. That's the common theme and issue with Golding is consistency issues with his defense. I'm sure Bama fans will come in here and remind us about that.
There comes a question there with his consistency of being out schemed when he shouldn't what would he do on his own without Saban?

Exactly. I think Golding gets hate from Bama fans but only because they aren’t giving up 6 points per game. Saban has obviously adapted his offense and realizes that the days of dominate defenses are mostly over, when you play that offensive style. The style of defense has evolved and Saban and Golding have evolved with it. I don’t think I would call Golding an elite defensive play caller, but he is extremely good and even better recruiter.

Therein lies the irony because if he leaves it’ll be “we it’s Sabans defense anyway”

Please take Golding from us. Please.
I bet you idiots could talk yourselves into liking BoB and Marrone now too.

Saban has kept DCs employed multiple years because they're yes men? OK.
And of those yes men shitty DCs, who couldn't keep a steady job after leaving?
I'd definitely trust what rolltide1984 says over Saban's actions.

He appears to be going after strong Louisiana background. If he keeps Davis, Faulk, and Raymond and add these two guys. That would be at least 5 guys with Louisiana background/ties.

If you want an elite DC Golding isn't it. He's not a terrible hire by any means but you're making this play mostly on recruiting over his coaching ability.
Ole Miss --> to TAMU is exactly why Bama fans hate Golding because it's a reoccurring theme for them with him as DC. He ain't no Dave Aranda that's far sure. It does make you question how much Saban has to come in behind Golding and clean schemes up as HC. He's young and I'd imagine he'll only grow as a DC.

Mcconkey and mitchell were two of his underrated recruits.
I love ladd mcconkey. He is their leading receiver and was rated in the 1,000s.
It would be for wide receivers coach/pgc.
Lsu really recruits itself at wide receiver now.
