Mickey left, in case you missed it. He’s not being replaced, he left on his own.
All of those guys listed for Mickey are local. There’s no reason Hankton can’t be as good at recruiting local talent. He also got Major Burns out of Baton Rouge and recruited and developed Ladd McConkey who is pretty much UGA’s best WR.
Hankton is also 13 years younger than Mickey. A lot of room for growth. Shouldn’t be dismissed.

Understand but Mickey is moving on. We also need some form of culture change. I can’t say this is issue with Mickey but maybe it’s possible. Maybe BK sees he will not mesh with Mickey and is choosing to go a different direction. No doubt Mickey has recruited his arse off and this could be a mistake but what if we get someone who is more of a teacher? That has its benefits also. It’s all speculation at this point. Let’s get some guys who are willing to show up no matter what the record is and just play. I’m so tired of the “I” attitude on this team since 2019. I’m willing to see how it turns out before I start criticizing.

Yeah I agree. Mickey has a way better resume. Crazy if we replace him with a coach from a terrible passing offense.

I follow GA pretty closely, Hankton is not the guy we need from that staff.

I'm not saying Hankton is the end all be all.. but your pessimism is running rampant.
We don't even know if this is the hire. But landing Perkins and Van Pran from Alabama and Louisiana is a tough grab. Throw some respect on the man's name.

They’ve relied on defense and running the ball with their stable of RBs.

He'd be an excellent recruiter but probably not even a big upgrade over Jones in what we have now. Only upgrade over JOnes is his recruiting ability. I don't like Golding's name being floated at all. Bama's defense has progressively regressed under Golding. They're begging us to take him. The positive side is he'll bring excellent recruiting to the staff and help lock Louisiana down. He's from Hammond.
Only thing I know about Hankton is he has got some good recruits out of Louisiana. I don't think we'd have a bad defense under Golding but it would be incredibly average. If there's one hire Kelly needs to homerun it's the DC hire and Golding ain't it. He makes sense and I can see where he's coming from though. I'd just be a little apathetic on that hire. We'll see what he can do if they do make it.

Saban hired and has kept employed Golding to run his defense. Jones can't make a halftime adjustment and has to have analysts install anything that's not sit on your hands base d. But muh Bama fans are gonna laugh at me on da national board.

I wouldn't mind PG's ties to Louisiana and his recruiting. But his X's and O's concern me. Not a huge upgrade over Daronte'. I would rather Lake or Elko.
