that all signs pointed to Saban staying at Alabama

The first one being the speed with which he signed that extension? He had it before the IB didn't he? One has to wonder if the one he signed was the one on his desk a couple of weeks ago before the Mack Brown travesty.

Saban is worth every penny he's paid
The money and pub he brings in is priceless

Bama is fortunate to have Saban
Saban is fortunate to have Bama's prestige
It's a perfect match

Without Saban you people would literally kill yourselves. You worship him like Sadam and make your children pray to him during meals.

"The way this sort of got spun, it was a little bit more like, 'OK, he got a new contract at Alabama, so he's going to stay at Alabama instead of going to Texas,'" Saban told ESPN.com on Saturday. "I never considered going to Texas. That wasn't even a conversation.
it's "spun" that way because that's exactly what it looks like. if you were never going to texas you didn't need a new contract especially since you just got one a year ago.

He just got a new contract in March.

What keeps Saban from Texas now? He has the $7 million from Alabama wrapped up. If he wants $10 million, he can walk in the door.

It's a business decision.

Well can't Saban get even more money now that he's inevitably going to get an offer from UT?

Yep.

How does Texas not formally offer Saban $10 million a year now? All he has to say is that there was no job opening before and there is one now. And they are offering $10 MILLION a year!

Texas has to go after him officially now.

50-50 Saban goes to Texas. Still.
