Riley is NOT worth $12m. LSU doesn’t need to be desperate.

Saban isn't even making that much. It's a pretty crazy number being thrown around.

Aranda is only in his second season as a head coach and isn't even remotely qualified for the LSU head coaching job. However, Lane Kiffin, who is far more proven relative to Aranda, and who is a better offensive coach relative to Riley, is available for half the amount it would take to hire Riley.

You’re right. He’s worth 15.

When the going gets Lincoln, the Lincoln gets Riley.

Value shopping?

Aranda lost to unranked TCU without their coach just last week?

I am very fired up he won today though.

The SEC is about to have an influx of more than $250M annually to disperse to its school members

The $12M doesn’t mean anything

I'd pay either one $12m if you said it was a done deal right now. Aranda has indicated interest in USC and there is nothing to suggest we've been going after Aranda. The smoke is on Lincoln and I'm equally good with that. If we were pursuing Aranda I'd feel the same way. There is no need to be bitc*ing right now.

I think there's a problem with all of the can't miss guys. First, there is no such thing. And second, the guys that we think are can't miss (that aren't truly) are going to require $100 million contracts with huge buyouts. If they don't pan out, which is always a possibility, then we won't be able to replace them because of the buyout.

Comparatively, Aranda seems to be a really good option. He seems to have as good a chance of working out as the others (or at least close to it), and we don't have to leverage the whole program for years to get him. He's only making $2.5 million a year at Baylor. We can bring him in with a contract that is only $5 to $6 million a year that is heavy with incentives and give him something on the order of a 5-year deal. If he doesn't work out we can do this again in a few years. In my view, this seems to be the best chance for success with as little risk as possible.

I don't think it's fair to hold Aranda's first year against him. Normally I would, but to start your first year as HC with a bunch of covid restrictions seems damn near impossible. How do you implement a new offense and defense without spring practice? How do you develop recruiting relationships when you can't go out and recruit. Yes, it was a rough start at 2-7, but I don't think that's indicative of what we should expect from him. Furthermore, as bad as that was, a year later he's 8-2 and in the hunt for a Big-12 title.

Lol. I’ve seen plenty of Baylor games. Plus, we know he’s really good from his time at LSU.
He was the only grown up on the staff in 2019

What an LSU thing of you to say. And people wonder why we haven’t had our shite together outside the Emmert era.
