I'd imagine that, after 2 losing seasons, and with the strong possibility of him being fired at the end of next season, at which time UM would owe him millions, that could be negotiated.

This. And it isn't even close. You go give Patterson 3-4/mill per year. Do not go in cheap to Patterson. I think he would be an awesome fit at LSU. If he kept Wilson to keep the recruiting class in tact, and Patterson knows Texas so that would keep our pipeline there alive.
If he still turns it down, you try to pry Peterson from Boise. Get him to keep Chavis and it's a slam dunk hire.

Tennesse would be crazy to get Rich Rod. Tennesee would only hire him if they want theor defense to be rated last in the SEC.
