lol.......after everything that has gone down Les could take the UM job without looking like an a-hole. Hell, we want him gone and who knows when that job will open up again. I hope he is thinking that.... Then we need to show up at Stanford with an offer:)
I understand the point, but the timing would really be messed up for us. Who would you want at LSU if this dream came true? (realistically)

I'd rather Patterson to Saban any day

Houston Nutt? Does Sexton throw his name into every opening? Get ready to pay up Ole Miss.

Realistically I think we do this. In this order

1.) Make Saban say NO
2.) Show up in Stanford at JH's doorstep with a solid offer
3.) If rejected, stop by in Dallas and offer Patterson
4.) Fly back north and offer Peterson
5.) If all else fails convince Muschamp.

If Muschamp ultimately turns down Tennessee for good, I'd think the only school that would have a shot at stealing him away from Texas is UGA. If Richt shits the bed in 2010, I could see Muschamp being their first offer.

Hopefully it wouldn't come to that but I see what you are saying. Maybe its just my LSU bias but I really feel like this is a better job than Tenn. plus he has some experience here. But saying that all 5 of those don't pan out, then what do we do?

ETA: Forgot about Del Rio, THanks......Where would you put him in my scenerio above?

Hire Jack Del Rio with one call. He wants to be the LSU coach.

I know a lot of people would see this article as the be all end all, but didn't RR also say he would never leave WVU and then a week later his agent was having late night talks with UofM? You can't really put anything past a coach these days. While I have a feeling he will be here at UofM next season, nothing is for certain until Tenn hires a new head coach thats not RR.

um2007,

How do you guys in Michigan really feel about RR and the possibility of Miles returning to Ann Arbor as the Head Coach?

I find it hard to believe Michigan goes outside the family again? So besides Miles who are other past Michigan coaches or players who are high on your list to succeed RR?

I think there is no doubt that RR was a good coach at WVU, but I'm just not sure he's the right fit for Michigan and the Big 10. if you go by message boards you get the impression there is a lot of support for him. If you listen around the stadium based on what I've heard there isn't as much.OSU game this year a lot of alum had sold their tickets, specifically those near the 50 yard line and the tunnel which made for an interesting game experience. I'd love to see Miles up here and I really think he would love to be here. He was my initial choice in 2007, I just think timing wise it didn't work out for us. I'd say if RR gets fired at the end of next season it will be between Miles and Harbaugh. UofM definitely won't go outside the family for a long time.

So does Gruden, and Cowher, and Fisher, and...

Why does every ranter assume Michigan would even offer the job to Miles, should RR leave? Seriously?

Miles would be a great HC for UM. Better than Harbaugh for sure.

why wouldn't everyone assume Michigan would offer it to Miles? There are many factors that don't need to be rehashed for the six millionth time that would lead one to assume he is an obvious choice should the need arise.

My scenario has Les winning the SEC and RR getting the boot at UM next season. Michigan then offers Les Miles, which he gratefully accepts.

After watching the end of the LSU/Ole Miss game, would you offer the job to Miles? What about LSU's past two seasons? Les isn't exactly lighting the college football world on fire.
