Remind me, was Jay Johnson's name getting kicked around at all for baseball?

also, Jimbo is a smokescreen

It was not. Just a couple of people here and there.
But Sully was big time and that actually almost happened.
Bianco was the smokescreen

It was brought up multiple times because I went and googled the guy to find out more. But was just over shadowed by the Bianco and Sully talk.
Scott has proven to know what he is doing. He will make the best available people say no and won't listen to the boosters or fans on who they want.

Not much.
O'Sullivan was the first target well before it was officially announced Maineri was retiring. Obviously, that fell through. There were discussions with Corbin's representatives for a while (that's why the process took so long), along with other targets...including Johnson.

There was a poster who said it would him early

Bianco was the only smokescreen. And that was talked about on the radio. Even so far as to say he’s the guy.
Nobody is talking about Jimbo media wise except on this board.

The most tired word of this search is now smokescreen.

I think I remember guys posting about the lsu plane going to Arizona right before or during the cws. Everyone seemed focused on coaches playing in the cws. Jmho

His name was mentioned several times on the Rant. O’Sullivan mentioned more but it’s not like Johnson came out of nowhere if you read the Rant

Yes but he wasnt the front runner in every ones opinion.

Not sure what you mean about "kicked around" and to what extent you're talking about, but his name was on the list of candidates. Sure.

Woody didn’t have a blank check essentially to make a baseball hire. If he did Tim Corbin would be here.

Yes he was. He was pinned when all the mainstream media kept floating all these stupid arse names. Very likely someone named our next HC considering we've already named them all with inside sauces. So someone has been right with their inside sauce.

Yeah.
The entire point of a smokescreen is to throw smoke at a name lesser than you’re getting.
Hence Bianco. When you’re going after Sully, Corbin, or Johnson.
Which is why it makes more sense, Napier and Tucker were the smokescreens. Or Franklin.

That doesn’t make sense. Jay Johnson was in Omaha during the CWS coaching Arizona.

Agreed. At this point, Woodward's best smokescreen would be no smokescreen.

Vandy’s checkbook is bigger than ours.
and they only truly spend it on one sport. Baseball
combine that with the scholarship advantage, and there was almost no way we were landing Corbin.

Johnson wasn’t the top target so it’s hard to say the other names being thrown around were smokescreens to keep the attention off of him.
O’Sullivan was Woodward’s top choice. Casey was very close to happening too despite what rantards want to believe.
Here’s the truth, Woodward isn’t involving anyone in the AD on this football search. It’s not discussed at all in the building. Take any rumor with a grain of salt.
