This was his motivation. Dude wears his fandom on his sleeve, in his position it’s unprofessional. Away from work, have at it.

Thank you.

Well they may or may not anytime soon. Not sure why some people don't consider this is potentially a rare opportunity he does not want to miss out on.

Another thing and I'm not saying they are saying this, but I find it offensive when some try to argue he should stay at Ole Miss, because there is less pressure to win. If he values himself as an elite coach then he should not be okay with that kind of talk.

Well this simply isn't true. I swear our fans have a delusional, self inflated view of our school. It's a great opportunity, but it's not even close to the best opportunity.

Lane knows the risk of staying is OM having 3, 4, or 5 loss seasons. He has them punching above their weight this year but it won't last forever. Sustained success at sip is practically impossibe for anyone to accomplish.

One bad year, ole miss could possibly fire him and his luster for a "bigger job" will fade. All coaches know this hence the reason they all capitalize on their better seasons.

He meant there will be other major jobs to open in the next few years. So of course everyone on here takes it as Davis said stay at Ole Miss until Bama opens.

Reece doesn’t want to see LSU make Bama it’s bitch again like in the early 2000s.

It’s not the same at all

I disagree with him, but I get the point he’s trying to make

Saban looked at him like he was stupid. Saban knows the gold mine of talent Lane will have at LSU. Saban used a lot of that talent to win at Alabama.

Why do you consider LSU NOT on par as a football program as any other school in the country?

They've won as many titles as Ohio State this century (the modern age of CFB)!
LSU has won more titles than Clemson, UGA, UT, OU, USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, Miami, FSU, UF, UTenn, UW... in the last 25 years. The only team with more is Bama with Nick Saban, but that opportunity isn't available currently. You could easily argue that if Saban had stayed at LSU, the Tigers may have been the MOST elite program in the modern age of college football, but I don't like IFs.

There is no meaningful metric to NOT include LSU as one of the most elite jobs on par with all but maybe Bama, but that job nor Ohio State are open or likely open any time soon.

Not only the on-field football success with wins, respect, relevance and championships, but LSU athletics off-field relevance in social media and sports personalities and the nationally and internationally recognized athletes in football and other sports that elevate the brand of LSU athletics.

I will never understand the self-loathing, low T perspective that a large portion of our fans have. LSU IS ELITE, and the support, standards and results are as high as any other football program.
