I’m ok with Raymond leaving. We need to start fresh with guys who are hungry and haven’t gotten lazy having been here since the Miles regime.

The cognitive dissonance on this board is incredible.

Raymond was a legend and the best DB coach in the country just yesterday. No one wanted him to leave.

Now our fans have convinced themselves that he's easily replaceable, overrated, and no longer needed, and are glad he's gone.

If a psychologist had read this board over the last 24 hours their jaw would currently be on the floor after witnessing the amount of people rationalizing why we are somehow now better off without him.

Firing a coach and hiring a new one means tons of turnover on the staff. Any and all current assistant coaches leaving should be expected. Let the new coach build his staff.

Bama seems ok with constant turnover. Hiring assistants is supposed to be BK’s strength, it clearly was not O’s….

I kinda agree. People can become complacent. Get some fresh blood.

Stop acting like "the board" is a single person. People have different opinions dude. I don't like that he's leaving either but it isn't the end of the fricking world either.

The melting* on this board is incredible.

^that's what you should've said.

I've said all along that NOBODY ought to be safe.

I expected he'd hold on to Raymond because that was the conventional wisdom, but Corey Raymond's position group has been a WEAKNESS the past two years. And his kids have consistently been the worst citizens on the team. Malingerers, weed suspensions, failure to make plays at the worst possible times.

He's been living on a reputation the numbers don't justify for several years now, and he's lost out on some huge, huge recruits over the past three years.

Hire Brian Kelly and you're getting a purely objective analysis of the current staff. And Brian Kelly is going to look at Corey Raymond's work product and say "you're not worthy of the promotion you want based on your current production."

And while Laterrance Welch, who I'd guess will stick around, and Jadarian Rhym, who almost assuredly won't, are nice players, neither one of them look like impact recruits. I would argue Jordan Allen and Austin Ausberry are likely to be just as good. And with Frank, who is very much in tight at North Shore, I don't think you're in any worse position for Denver Harris as you were before Corey left, it seems to me this isn't going to hurt you in recruiting at all this year.

He’s not a holdover from the Miles regime. He left and was a head coach at 2 different places then came back.

I’m not happy Raymond is leaving, it’s a loss for sure. However, I’m hopeful we can bring in a good coach to replace him.

This is worse "logic" than the people who try to explain away Burrow quitting on OSU

If we hired Jimbo would he be a Miles holdover because he coached under Miles before? No, dummy

I think I might agree with this more than anything I’ve read on here ever. Raymond has given y’all a break from totally trashing Brady like he did something to you.

They don't even play the same positions.

You are trying too hard.

I’ll say it. Corey Raymond hasn’t been the best db coach for a few years now. His all-world starters fricking quit after a game or two into the season. I think we can do better. CR best days are behind him
