Yes I do. I think Herman would be a pretty big gamble as well.

I think I've officially moved off of the Tom Herman bandwagon and am looking for a seat on the PJ Fleck bandwagon.

I am still on the Herman bandwagon but i am also on the Fleck bandwagon if its possible to be on two at the same time

I mean, come on, the dude wears a tie on the sidelines

I wonder if he would still do that when its 95 degrees with 100% humidity on a Baton Rouge Saturday night

yea, but he makes out with his players before the games. That is at least partially offsetting.

I don't have a #1. That would depend on what their vision would be, who their assistants would be, etc.

My preferred group: Bill O'Brien, Bobby Petrino, Bob Stoops, Mark Dantonio, Dabo Swinney, John Harbaugh, Chip Kelly.

I would be targeting someone with proven experience at the highest levels and not rolling the dice on someone who has never been there. You might get lucky rolling the dice on Herman or Fleck, but I think it's more likely that you get snake eyes.

Sounds great, they aren't exactly easy to get. And i notice that your list doesn't include the one coach who has what you are looking for and we might actually have a shot at getting, Jimbo Fisher

But if you hit, that's how greatness happens, going with what you know, gets you what you know.

How do you know that O'Brien, Harbaugh, or Kelly don't want to be in college and away from the NFL grind? They might. Or maybe they could be convinced. You start at the top, and work your way down the list. You certainly don't go straight to low hanging fruit like Fleck or even Herman.

Why Bob Stoops? Really? His winning percentage is .804. But he needs a change of scenery. Oklahoma is a great program, but I would say that LSU is an easier place to recruit and find elite players. His 9-3 and 10-2 seasons at OU might be 11-1 or 12-0 seasons at LSU with our talent.

I would be fine with Fisher, but prefer some other guys a little more.

Too many people like guys like Fleck or Herman because they haven't been exposed or challenged at lower levels. They have no warts, yet (Herman losing to Navy isn't a good sign). But when they start matching wits with SEC level coaches, you'll see the warts then and Fleck's experience matching wits with coaches from Eastern Michigan, Akron, Toledo, Kent St etc won't seem so valuable.

I agree you shoot for the moon, but there has to be some kind of indication they are willing to move to college, or maybe they are losing their NFL job anyway.

Those guys, save Chip Kelly (MAYBE), are not coming to LSU. Entertaining the thought is a waste of your brain cells.

Coaches lose games. Its just the way it is. Navy has as much talent as Houston does most likely, or close enough that it doesnt matter.

Look at the entire resume. That's why O is out...

I like how people rule out Tom Herman for losing to Navy, as if a guy like Nick saban doesn't have MUCH worse losses on his record or anything

I want a guy that can gameplan with the best of the best. Herman has showed an ability to do that. He's been successful every where he's been.

O's resume includes coaching at huge programs like USC and LSU. Both recently.

Both of those stops, ESPECIALLY HERE, matter way more imo than at historically awful Ole Miss a decade ago.
