He elevated the value of the job.

I know it’s been said a bunch, including by the game day crew, that Orgeron couldn’t win a NC anywhere else which is almost definitely true. In that same line of thinking, now we have actual interest from top head coaches. During the Miles ending - who was interested other than Jimbo in 2015? Herman used us to get a better deal from UT.

I just hope O doesn’t drag us down too far in the next month.

He sure as heck did.
2019 was the best season in the history of the sport. You must not understand the implications of this.

Joe Alleva did such an awful job with the search, it’s hard to say who wanted the job and who didn’t. He very well could have destroyed the football program, had he not left.

Joe Burrow, Dave Aranda, and Joe Brady elevated the job. Since all 3 left, the program has been a disaster.

It wasn't O. It was 2019.

2019 showed the world what you can build at LSU. Every coach and AGENT now can see this.

He for sure did. He showed that if you even semi competently run this football program, you can compete for and win championships.

Chase, Marshall, Jefferson, Edwards-Helaire, Fulton, and many other great Louisiana players were a big part of that season. The LA talent was on full display and elevated the program, even with a mediocre to poor head coach.

Correct

Not sure how others aren’t seeing this

Same for Miles. Both are coaches who couldn’t succeed anywhere else at the level they did at LSU.

A good to great HC could relate a dynasty here.

People thought, incorrectly, that Miles was a good coach. So his success from the outside didn’t move the needle much on what was otherwise thought to be a very good job.

People knew Orgeron wasn’t a good coach. His success opened everyone’s eyes that this is an elite job with no ceiling if the right people are in place to guide the ship.

Only in the way that LSU must now pay a coach a ridiculous amount of money to come here because O has run the program to the brink of disaster & now LSU has to do whatever it takes to get someone to come in & save the program. O has only elevated the cost of trying to save the program.

The knock on the 2007 championship was that Miles won it with Saban’s recruits. So, I agree with sentiment that the 2019 Season elevated LSU as a top coaching destination.

I’m no O fan by any stretch of the imagination. But us winning a title in 2019 and him becoming the third consecutive LSU coach to win one absolutely elevated this job. We have more titles in the last 20 years than anyone besides Bama. O contributed to that.

You left out Steve Ensminger, the Offensive Coordinator, woefully underestimated. Joe Brady "enhanced" LSU's offense, but take no mistake, Steve Ensminger ran the show.
