Scott was not looking for another CEO type coach. Stability has everything to do with a HC truly understanding one side of the ball.

Relying completely on coordinators in a vacuum was NOT going to happen again.

I agree here, but which side of the ball should the LSU hire be? I say defense (Tucker).

Not looking to join the offensive wave with Riley, Sark, Kiffin and Leach.

Considering the job Saban and Kirby smart are doing I’d definitely value DC over Oc. Finding a good OC every couple years seems like it’d be much easier than going out and trying to find a Dave Aranda. Kirby has seemed to have a hard time with it, but in general I think young talented offensive minds are much more available.

So how does this effect Napier who doesn't understand either side of the ball all that great?

1. Fickell
2. Tucker
3. Aranda

I feel like we've seen a lot of chatter that these 2 are out of the picture. Definitely no Fickell, and I can understand Tucker not wanting to jump ship after 1 year on the program 2 seasons in a row.

it does.

the thing one needs to look at is the layman's fixation on offensive minds and their ultimate success.

Think about recent national title level contenders:

Clemson - Veneble (sp)
Bama - duh
LSU - Aranda
Georgia - Kirby

The disparity with these programs and the teams they have faced who were/are known for offensive prowess was quit large.

Now, does that mean no attention to the offensive side of the ball? Well, no, of course not. You don't need Riley/Kendall/Kiffin type offensive skill sets. Rather, you need EFFICIENT applications of on-hand talent.

Saban brings in cast offs and it's plug and play. You need a vision and stability.

i understand you dont want napier but your obsession and not being able to look at things objectively is retarded.

Fired by Clemson and middle of the pack P5 coordinator at Arizona State.

Call me obsessed yet you swing in with personal insults every time.

You're just a biased Homer and you have no other angle. You give Napier the benefit of the doubt in everything he does while slashing other coaches who slip up even once.

Explain to me how Napier is such a Saban-ite but Kiffin and Tucker aren't?

Just because you don’t want Tucker doesn’t mean he’s not in consideration for the LSU job. No decision has been made yet.

What if I told you there’s a guy out there (Matt Rhule) with experience coaching both sides of the ball? Dudes been a D-line coach, linebacker coach, tight end coach, QB coach, special teams coach and OC. He knows both sides of the ball with expertise in offense, and has now coached in college and the NFL. This is as close to a sure thing as we are going to find. . ...
