After whiffing on the top choice we "settled" for one of the most successful coaches in the game and a huge name, just as Scott promised, and we're melting about it?

Not a bad hire by any means, but definitely not the best LSU could do, in my opinion.

I’d hate to have seen them after hiring 28-21 Les Miles or 16-27 Orgeron

Most of the opposers for him are complete back wood idiots. How do you not like the hire. I can’t state this enough. He is a great coach and has ND #5 right now. I’m dumbfounded how people wouldn’t like this hire. As I said in another post most these idiots try to run a coach out before 5 years so if he gives us a great ten year run because of his age who would not want that.

He’s a damn good coach. My only problem was I thought he was thinking about retiring. He’s 60 years old right? That’s the only scary thing to me. We could be back in this situation in a few years.

Yes because many on this board are ignorant and absolute morons when it comes to football and what qualifies a good or great coach. Let the mfer’s melt. LSU is getting a very good coach if Kelly is who we get.

Kelley will have this team loaded with monsters in the trenches and be able to get great skill players.
This is a top notch hire. It’s just not sexy because he’s not some 30 something wonderkid

As I see it:
The pros:
-seems like a good X’s and O’s coach.
-track record of developing QBs
-sustained success at a big program
Cons:
-don’t know how he’s going to do coaching an SEC schedule
To be fair I would have a pretty similar list for Riley. And a coach like Aranda prob does have a higher ceiling but I would argue there’s still a lot of unknowns for Aranda after just one year.
I don’t hate it *shrug*
The pros:

I’m onboard with the hire 100%. He’s been successful at every stop in his career. I think he will win a lot of games with LSU’s athletes.

Classic Woodward hire. Proven coach on the back end of their career. Winning coach i just worry about cultural fit for SEC, old school guy in todays NIL NCAA, and going back to outdated offense.
