Its worse than a rebuild. Its a really terrible situation on multiple levels.
Older roster, historically bad cap situation, stuck with a mediocre QB, no significant future draft asset beyond your own picks currently.
The thing it has going for it is ownership. From a HC perspective, Gayle is a great owner. She does not meddle and basically completely stays out of it, spends a lot of money, does not give the media insane sound bites, and has a very very long leash for HCs. The things that frustrate fans are positives for a HC ownership wise.
I imagine they would have to offer one of the better HC Candidates a longer contract than normal.

wouldn't be bad. he's a parcells guy. proven his chops as an assistant and a coordinator. having a great look at what turning an organization around looks like.

The Saints better go outside the organization to someone who hasn`t been associated with the franchise.They need new blood and ideas.They need a coach who comes in with a clean slate and totally has no connections with
this roster and who will with no emotion cut the dead wood on this team.

So, who is the list in most people's eyes?
Johnson
Orr
Brady
Vrabel
Flores?????
I'm not sure Johnson, Flores, or Vrabel are the people.
Believe Johnson is going to Chicago, Vrabel is probably going to the Jets, and Flores is damaged goods from Miami.
Brady has ties and is in Buffalo right now (I think)
Orr is a Defense guy, and generally, you go Offense after firing a Defensive HC.
So, who else out there is realistic?
