Ya think?

Talk about a bad idea.

I think Jim Mora is the most likely candidate. He's the best coach that would be making a substantial upgrade career move. Basically he's the best guy that couldn't say no.

Said it 5 times in the last thread...Saban stays. Harbaugh to Texas
I'd actually take Harbaugh over Saban at this point in their careers. Harbaugh is obviously a better coach overall. They both did well at the college level, but Harbaugh's success in the NFL compared to Saban's failure is a difference maker. Also, Harbaugh is a lot younger.

Whoever is the coach at Austin Westlake High School. He is the only one who would step into the complete shitshow that is Bellmont

It doesn't matter who is the better coach or not. Harbitch is not leaving the 49ers and Saban will continue to own LSU until he retires.

Who will be UT coach? I have no idea and neither does anyone else here. One thing for sure is that UT can pay more than Saban's new extension. Will that matter? Who knows.

Any salary has to be approved by the BOR before it can be offered. $8 million is a tough sell to a bunch of money-grubbers.

I wonder if Texas would stoop low enough to hire Mike Riley?
Just look at the pros of it for a second:
1. The guy has had some success at a school that doesn't recruit well and can't hope to compete with the talent level of Oregon and USC. Just my opinion, but given the recruiting draw of the Texas brand, I could see Riley doing very well there.
2. He isn't a guy with a huge ego that would rustle the feathers of the UT Administration. A guy like Riley would do whatever they asked him concerning the LHN.
3. He's developed some pretty good QBs over the years, something Texas desperately needs.
4. He already lives near Austin and loves it.
Cons:
1. He's never won his division or a conference title at OSU.
2. He's 60 years old.
3. His offenses have been inconsistent.
4. His team ended the regular season on a 5 game losing streak...
Ya' know what, never mind. I think I just saw that he lived near Austin and ran with it, but now it all looks stupid. I've already typed this much so I'm just going to post it. So there.

Make my day, motherfricker. CMR is a great guy and I love his consistency, but dude is Mack Brown Lite and most of us here in DawgNation are stuck waiting for him to give in to the call to save the heathen Pygmies, before he'll hang up his headset and call it a day.

If they want to be successful they need a coach with a very strong personality that is confident in himself. Then when he gets that big contract he can do what Saban did at Bama and at LSU and take control of the program. Right now Texas is going in so many different ways with all the booster interference. Saban did a good job of getting everyone going in the same direction at both LSU and Bama. Look at both programs when he arrived and look at them now. The facilities, the strength of the programs and the strong foundation they are both built on.

If I were them, I'd hire Barry Switzer or Howard Schnellenburger.

Yeah, but if we're talking about being a college coach, his NFL success means nothing, and Saban has four titles at the college level to Harbaugh's...yeaaaaaaaaaaah.

Westlake High School has two more starting QBs in the NFL than LSU, Bama, Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas, Texas, USC, and Notre Dame combined

While I still think it ends up being Harbough, how about:
Charlie Strong to Florida
Muschamp to Texas
Charlie Strong to Florida

1A. Gus Malzahn
1B. James Franklin
Charlie Strong is a distant 2nd to me. I think he ends up at Florida.
