Dooley?
Well, I don't know much about this guy so I'm not really gonna say anything. Hope he turns out to be a good hire.

looks like you all are going to have to wait another year to get rid of Les
They guy can take LSU to the wire with La Tech. Thats gonna be a real tough game.

I meant it more for the fact that everyone thinks Les' next logical move will be Michigan. Have to wait until the end of next season now to see what goes down up here and whether or not momma comes callin.

If DD wins consistently at Tennessee, Georgia will likely roll out the red carpet for him if/when they're shopping for a HC next time around.
I think they'd roll it out for Muschamp first. He's already said that's his dream job (he, like Dooley, is a GA grad).

I would be pissed right now if I were a UT fan.

This. No offense to Dooley, I'm sure he's a good guy, but that's the best they could do?

Dooley is a class act. Smart as hell. Good coach. Young. Energetic.
While it looks like a gamble to those that don't know him, and it is kinda, I've got a feeling the Vols just got a major upgrade over Lame Kiffin. I don't think they will regret this one.

who else is out there? It's very late in the game. I think many on here underestimate the challenge of filling a spot when you have a vacancy at the end of November, let alone the middle of January.

I don't underestimate anything, I'm sure finding a coach isn't an easy task.
That being said, a big time program like UT should be able to do better.

good coach. great hire.
classy guy.

classy guy.

While he by default is classier than Kiffen, Dooley's "more elite" comment was very Kiffenesqe.

footballscoop.com reporting that Sumlin is still in play and that nothing is official.

Frankly, UT was getting turned down right, left, up, down...they had to do something.
You've got a guy who worked under Saban, with Saban coming off of a national championship.
the main priority was to find someone fast to help save the recruiting class. What better way than to get a coworker of the reigning national championship coach? It wasn't their first or second choice, but frankly...they were running out of options for the time frame involved.

Agreed. IMO, it was the best that they could do under the circumstances.

No Dooley is not Officially the next UT Coach.
Posted on 1/15/10 at 2:42 pm to UTVolCountry
If this goes down Tennessee upgraded IMO.

my problem with hiring all the "big" expensive name coaches is there is not much incentive there.
DD is a VERY underrated coach. When latech playes us last year, they were very well coached, disciplined, and excecuted about as good as you could.
He is a better coach then miles i would say by a good bit.
Just watch what he does with the talent he will get.
