I think O is going to make this a diverse hire no matter what.

That’s just I think. “Best man for the job” at me all day.. I just think that’s where he is leaning.

So are they claiming sources or what?

They’ve broken a lot of news this year.

They had the Arik Gilbert and Terrace Marshall opt outs first. I believe they also had the Jamarr Chase opt out first.

They called the Jake Peetz interview as well

I think Trev Faulk is going to be on our staff next year coaching linebackers.

I say this. If that is the case, then I sincerely hope Woodward has learned his lesson from the Pelini disaster. Richard is out of coaching at the moment (by his own choosing) and doesn't appear to have significant market demand. He might think he is worthy of a big time job with a big time salary, but I hope Woodward isn't so stupid to TWICE overpay for a guy whose market demand doesn't justify it.

I dont Get the love for Richard

Coaches don’t get better just because they dropped down from the NFL to college.

If you couldn’t stop an NFL offense what makes them able to stop college offenses when you end up much less talent parity?

He drove that Seahawks defense straight down.

I really think you make him Co-DC.

Trev Faulk might be a good LBs coach. I know nothing about him as a coach.

Maybe Tosh Lupoi Dline and Co-DC? Helps with recruiting.

I know there is a lot of speculation about Bo Davis, but he might not be completely cleared.

(Let me be clear.. I still want Freeman.)

Apparently Muschamp turned down the Texas job and Odom is being mentioned for UT

Good, let them hire Odom and allow Texas to continue being Texas!

Pelini is gone. How did we do playing man in 2019 under Aranda?

Of course he does because Pete Carroll told O this was the guy he should get despite canning him himself.

Well our secondary played mostly man and some zone, but our LBs played zone the majority of the time. For example, the Queen pick on Tua right before the half, that doesn’t happen if he was playing man.
Like I said, I’m a “man” guy, but you gotta be flexible, as Aranda was!

Some interesting quotes from Richard after deciding to sit it out in 2020:

quote:

Jettisoned by the Cowboys in the sweep that included the firing of coach Jason Garrett, Richard interviewed for several jobs early this year – including two head coaching positions – but was offered nothing with a rank higher than defensive backs coach.

No thanks.

“It’s kind of like knowing your worth, knowing your value,” Richard told USA TODAY Sports. “What’s the difference between the two? Do they coincide? Are they interchangeable? Cutting through all of that, I wasn’t willing to take anything less than I am. I know what I am and I know what I am capable of.”

On minority coaches:
quote:

“I was taught a long time ago: You’ve got to be 10 times better to go just as far,” Richard said. “That doesn’t drive me, but I’m driven. My standard is that I want to be the best who’s ever done it.”

quote:

“I’m on the verge of burnout on game day,” he said, alluding to hours watching games simultaneously on “Sunday Ticket," providing mental reps for defensive strategies. “I’ve always watched football critically. It’s not about what anybody else is doing. It’s about, ‘What would I do?’ Always being prepared, situationally.”

If O takes this guy over Odom then O is doing it to please the politically correct LSU crowd.

People want to blame the DBs, particularly the CBs for the atrocious pass defense, but in reality, while a huge part of it was the DBs, it was mostly the safeties being out of position time and time again.

Busch was atrocious as a coach this year with the safeties and they were the worst unit on the team. It was clear that Aranda schemed around Bucsh's style, and Pelini did not. It is honestly why I think guys like Busch and Cregg needed to go. You are having to scheme everything around their specific style in order for their units to be good to the potential detriment of the team.

Richard is an awful choice and would prove that O is simply going to continue to hire USC garbage. We are not USC. LSU is actually better than USC in many regards historically the past 25 years and defense is one of them.

In the end, hire someone that fits the scheme choice instead of one of your buddies. We all know O is likely not to do that if he misses out on his top choice.

Sounds like someone that would be great to get around kids that are already being fed BS about the hardships they will face.

Instead of admitting that he simply isn't as good as he thought and working his way back into a position, he pouts, takes his ball and goes home. It's pathetic given he has never proven shite as a DC unless under Pete Caroll (who we know runs that defense).

Hell he wasn't even DC in Dallas.
