This will be Arnett's first head coaching job. At 36 years old, he immediately becomes the youngest head coach in the SEC.
Prior to working at Mississippi State, Arnett spent nearly a decade as a top assistant at San Diego State. In 2019, the Aztecs boasted the No. 2 defense in the FBS and he received a big offer from Syracuse to be their new defensive coordinator.

I know life goes on but it's weird to watch State with a new coach now. I know Leach was there for only 3 years but he felt like a perfect fit for that program.

This was what I expected them to do. Really is the best course of action being so close to signing day you wouldn’t want to fire the entire staff and start over.

They would not do that but they could have made him the interim for 2023.
Problem is that hurts recruiting big time.

Word out of LSU at the time is Arnette wasn’t impressive in the interview.
I don’t believe a goddamn thing that came out of that regime though.
