I was never on board with Coach O taking the job. He seems like a cool guy, and I'd love him to stick around as an assistant and recruiter.
I just think that there's a reason why two big time programs will have looked over him.

Point is it becomes best case scenario assuming other two choices don't work out.
If you were O and you wanted the job you'd do whatever it took to increase your chances.

The only way Orgeron keeps Aranda and Kiffin as coordinators for 3-4 years is if we become so mediocre they look less attractive to other suitors as HCs.

Where's Aranda going? NFL? Hc somewhere? Far as we know that's not his aspiration.

Sad that we have to trash the guy just so the upper LSU admins will get the point. If we show O the appreciation he deserves, they'll mistake it for fans wanting to hire him into a long term deal. (similar to what happened last year at the A&M game.)
Most people would love O to stay on board, but not as HC, but if we have to lose O to get a top tier HC, then thats what needs to happen.

He is about as level-headed an analyst as one can be who is also pro-LSU and is just putting a poll on his site for, mostly, entertainment purposes.
There are probably a handful of folks that know anything about who will wind up HC and it's a good bet that they're not on this board.

Hey I'm not a huge O fan, but most of the people's obsession with either Jimbo or Herman borders on the pathological. What will be your response if Jimbo comes in and shites the bed and only delivers 8-9 win seasons or we spend lots of money on Herman and he proves to be nothing more than Sumlin 2.0?
What do you say about hiring a 1AA coach who won 2 national championships on that level before moving on to a big time school? I'm sure you are saying that a 1AA would need more seasoning ...,maybe at a mid major.
