This would be typical Les style to leave after a season of beating Bama and UF and as the 2nd winniest coach in LSU football. Also who blames him? I'm not a huge fan but when you pull your emotions out and look at the record, the abuse the man has taken seems beyond absurd. Also he knows that LSU fans will never have the satisfaction of seeing him fired, AND if another coach does not come in and immediately better LES's 2010 record against next years murderous schedule this FURTHER cements Miles legacy in Baton Rouge and he will have incredible sympathy in the national media as we will read story after story of "the jokes on you LSU..be careful what you wish for". So to recap..LSU's fanbase understands, the media sympathizes and condems anyone who EVER doubted you, and you leave a legacy of winning at LSU.
Look I don't think it's going to happen but I thought we'd run twice and kick a FG against AU in 07. This IS the mad hatter...

i am a fan of Les Miles, as a fan I realize that anytime someone says "I am not a fan" and then follow that up with "but his winning record speaks for itself" or something along those lines, they are in fact a fan as well but want to try to prove their credibility.
That they are not beyond bashing Miles like the rest of the fan base but still thinks he has a good record.
Its alot easier to bash the man than it is to praise him. But I praise him for running a clean program. You can't win the national title every year, it's just not possible. But he has won a National Title and kept us in contention for an SEC title most years.
People can tell you that they "are upset because of how we lost" but it wouldnt matter if we lost by 1 point and we played our hearts out or not. People would still be down on him.
This fan bases memory of Nick Saban is all strawberries and cream. Yes, he brought us back to a level of recognition, but he also dropped several winnable games in 2002 and 2004 and then bolted for the Dolphins. I dont have a problem with him leaving for the NFL, who wouldnt but to call him the greatest coach ever is ridiculous.
Les Miles will go down as the greatest LSU coach in history. He will run a clean program and keep us in contention just about every year he is here. He will make boneheaded mistakes but who wont. He will play players that may not be right and he will LOSE games. But so will Saban where ever he is. So will Jimbo Fisher, Urban Meyer, Bobby Petrino, Bo Pelini, Will Muschamp, Jim Tressel, etc....
At the end of his career most LSU fans will look at it and say wow those 2008 and 2009 seasons may have been bad but goodness we have had a great 20 years under this man.

No it wouldn't.
Loyalty is Les's style. Leaving after a 10-2 season with hopes for a BCSNCG appearance next year is not his style at all.

You missed my point. Doing the unexpected is his style. Yes he is loyal but please don't fool youtself about the level of interest he had in Michigan in 07. If Herbstreit keeps his mouth shut and Lloyd Carr didn't despise the man he would be in Ann Arbour right now...FACT!

cool, prove it
I do believe there was a lot of truth to Les' interest in Michigan, but I think the fact that we were playing for the BCS championship had more to do with him staying. He wouldn't do that to his players.

I believe that it was not that he didn't want to go to Michigan, but that was not the right time to go.

That may describe the "abuse"
But it also describes a lot of other things about the MIles era

There is an awful lot to be said for that.
12-0 regular season finish notwithstanding, I'm thankful we're not Auburn.

Another LSU official said Colorado has not contacted Miles, and his Dallas-based agent, George Bass, didn't return phone calls.
This is all you need to read in that article. You should read something into the fact that his agent didn't return calls to the Denver Post. All he would have had to say is "I have had no conversations with anyone at Colorado."

He's gone. Although we will get a good coach after him, we really don't deserve it for the way our dumbas fans have treated him.
and Geaux Les Miles!

I can't believe Les and his family are still here. As bad as LSU has been to his career and as poorly paid as he has been he should have no appreciation for LSU at all.

Les Miles has had 10 wins 4 of his 6 seasons all the while people at LSU and around this board say the most hateful and belittling things I have seen.
If I was Miles,
"I continue to beat the dominating teams in the SEC with some slips here and there but have an INCREDIBLE record and have INCREDIBLE class as a person. I put character before all else and I turn boys into men, on AND off the field. I have one a national title and have a wonderful bowl record. I wonder if the Michigan fans would treat a stellar coach like LSU fans do. frick you guys, I'm taking my bad arse coaching record and recruiting talents elsewhere."

No excuse for how poorly Les has been treated by LSU. His career has been devastated here. I mean his contract is so poor he only has 4 years left at a guaranteed 3.8 million a year. Who the hell would want to stay when the university you work for has such a lack of appreciation like that?
