He knew they'd report it. He just didn't want to be directly quoted. I agree that's odd but he probably didn't want to be quoted on ESPN etc. Didn't quite work the way he expected I'd imagine

So if Les were to leave, who should LSU replace him with?

I think he just wanted it off camera. Why is that? He doesn't want it documented. He doesn't have a offer yet. He isn't the first choice but is interested. He is saying it to keep his recruiting class incase he doesn't get a offer.

What is more odd...that it was said off the record or that all the reporters blabbed about it?

I honestly don't think him saying what he did today means anything.

I also think it's a good chance he's gone.

I think Les stays at LSU.

I honestly believe he is too lazy to start over somewhere else. He can cruise to retirement without much effort at LSU.

he knew they'd blow up the twittersphere with it, but there's no evidence that he said anything

Hell if I know. I don't pretend to have the answers like some. I just find that him informing the press but off the record is very strange.

Interesting. What's the point of not being quoted

I'm glad to hear it. I can't point to a reliable upgrade at the moment.

It was unlike anything I've been a part of so far. He asked not to be quoted or filmed, but basically asked us to pass along the message that he was not going. He basically said "do what you gotta do, but don't quote me."

Everyone was hesitant to write anything, tweet anything, etc., but he said run with it all but no quotes and nothing from him on camera because he didn't want to put UM in a bad light.

It was odd. But not surprising, I guess. I guess I should believe he's not going now, but after covering recruiting, I don't believe anything anymore.

I guess the groundhog saw his shadow, so five more years of signing top 5 talent and losing 2-4 conference games per year. Here is to recruiting big and underachieving.

Crazy. I think he's a man torn. He loves both schools, communities, etc. and I think he would have loved a shot at UM. However, Miles has a great sense of pride and the fact that Michigan appears to be holding out for Harbaugh, making him second fiddle, he's done with it. He's in a tough position.
