Mike Gundy's nightmarish contract negotiations with Oklahoma State

Posted this on the MSB as well. Basically, Mike Gundy wants a long term commitment from Oklahoma State and they're refusing to giving it to him even though they gave their far less accomplished basketball coach a ten year extension.

Mike Gundy might be in College Station, Texas, today if he operated like Todd Graham.
But unlike Graham, Gundy really is true to his school. He has repeatedly demonstrated it isn't just lip service when he talks about his love, loyalty and commitment to coach at Oklahoma State.
Graham was job-hopping again last week, bolting Pittsburgh for Arizona State. It marked the second time in the past six seasons the former Tulsa coach stiffed a school and embarrassed its athletic director by leaving after one season.
Gundy's approach to his profession is the antithesis of Graham's. He graduates players, is a strict disciplinarian, builds a program the right way, wins big and doesn't make sure his name's involved whenever a high-profile job opens.
In other words, he should be rewarded for being an athletic director's dream. Instead, Gundy's contract negotiations with his AD have become a nightmare.

Another reason why they don't deserve to be in New Orleans. They don't take football serious enough. Without T. Boone Pickens, they're still in the dark ages, relative to college football.

I hope Gundy gets an offer from a big school and takes it. Frick Oklahoma State for doing this to him. He is the greatest coach in their history, and they don't want to commit to him? Who in the hell do they think they are? I thought that Boone was an idiot but this dip shite of an AD takes the cake.

do you actually believe that shite?
you have to have a certain threshold of "football-taking-seriously-ness" to qualify for the BCSNCG?

This is what happens when you hire a golf coach to be your AD

This guy must not think before he speaks. Maybe he was right with the "I'm a man" tirade but probably could have been handled differently. Before the last game, he said Alabama was a better team than OSU. And now he tells his employers that he is dead set loyal and isn't going anywhere in the middle of trying to get a contract extension and I suppose a raise. Kind of lose your leverage when you do that.

it's more gundy. gundy is more responsible than anyone else. he's made some great assistant hires
and t boone is what's holding up the contract extension

Well, if Gundy feels he's been wronged and wants to bounce, I only see one job on the radar worth him leaving for..........PENN STATE. Chances?

I don't think this came out as intended.

I hope this turns into the beginning of the end of OSU's temporary relevance in football. Screw em.

what fricking idiots.
A good coach is all that is separating them from being Texas Tech.

Speaking of TT, you see where not appreciating Mike Leach has gotten them.....idiots..

basketball team has been meh so i can see why he is miffed about ford getting extended.

Yeah I wouldn't blame the AD in this case. If T Boone want Gundy to have an extension he would get one. There was an article a week or two ago that claimed Gundy/Sexton was told to negotiate an extension directly with Pickens and not the AD.

Given what he's done recruiting wise at OSU, putting him in the SEC would bring Georgia back to the top level of the SEC, making it even more of a beast conference than it is.

Read once then when Bear Bryant was coaching at Kentucky, at some banquet, the school gave Adolph Rupp a new car....Bear got a cigarette lighter.....

Brilliant post.
You do realize that Les Miles started the turnaround of that program almost 10 years ago by beating the vaunted ZeroU twice, right? Way before TBoone's money faucet turned on.
