In a vacuum, the LSU job is a top five job.

The problem is that the job is attached to a university, a city, and a state that not everyone wants to move to.

I love LSU and Louisiana, but it can be a tough sell to people unfamiliar with it. It’s unfair, but LSU, Baton Rouge, and Louisiana suffers from bad PR nationwide.

Surely there’s more to do in Norman, OK…

Stop being dramatic. His dogs are named Boomer & Sooner. It was a hard pull from the beginning.

I think he’ll regret it when they’re in the SEC. For years OU has benefited from playing in a weak arse conference. They wouldn’t have won the SEC the last 4 years like they did the Big 12.

Those new facility upgrades he’s leveraging for aren’t going to convince athletes from the Deep South to go to Norman.

looking like we’re going to miss on every major target in this search (Riley, Tucked, Franklin).

How do you know that any of those were ever targets? I guess we whiffed on Skip Holtz too.

You’re correct. All those things you mentioned are certainly attractive, but then you have the worst fan base in the country.

Who wants to deal with this bunch of under educated, emotional weaklings who tie their lives to a school that most never attended?

Too much drama.

You’re describing Alabama, who currently has the greatest coach of all time

Who also coached LSU

Buffoons can win championships here.

We are exactly what we think we are. Some coaches are just pussies.
They’d rather stay at a school and never accomplish anything but winning a weak league, then get pounded by superior talent. It’s about security, then don’t need to win big all the time, and their fans still love it. See. OU fans all over this board. They love being just okay. They truly believe they’ll be better in the SEC. Imagine being that delusional.

We don’t accept mediocracy, and that scares weak coaches.

All of this is wrong

Fact is, it’s hard to hire coaches in 2021. No one worth mentioning is underpaid or has shite facilities anymore. TV exposure isn’t a factor anymore.

Alabama will have the same issues when Saban retires. Ohio State will have the same issues if/when Day goes to the NFL. Oklahoma will have the same issues if/when Riley goes to the NFL.

I don’t think some of our posters realize how the rest of the country sees the Deep South. Louisiana is not a garden spot for anyone truthfully.

I didn't know that football coaches are mostly seeking Garden spots to reside. I thought they were competitive creatures that go to the biggest challenges and/or the most opportunity to compete

Sure we could have. We didn’t pony up the money

We lost him to Texas. Another prestigious school. Not like he chose Ole Miss over us.

This place melted at the thought of Tucker. Franklin was never a consideration. And Riley might have been literally fabricated by this very forum

has LSU ever really made a “splash” hire?

Has anyone ever really had a splash hire outside of Saban?

Go look at almost every good school and most of them got their coaches internally.

Riley, Dabo, Day…

Bullshite. LSU with the money, resources, recruiting grounds, and no in-state rival to compete with in recruiting will always be a top 10 job.

This, you have to be a loser to not understand LSU is an attractive job by objective standards.

Time will tell if we played our cards right or not

LSU is a good job, but woody is trying to poach coaches that already have a similar situation they would have at LSU.

better hope campbell can be had because it looks like napier is going to uf.

if he can't get campbell, then we get mark stoops or BoB. coulda had napier all along.
