Turned down a bunch of money from usc also.
Money doesn't motivate him.

Great coach but apparently not the brightest.

What the hell does motivate him then

I get it but he's got two big dogs left in this cycle to try for. If he doesn't get those how many other of the big jobs are left? USC, LSU, UF, ND, Texas, OU, Auburn, FSU, would have all switched coaches while he was a hot candidate. The bloom is already kinda off some after them not building on last season.

Right. There’s no guarantee ISU isn’t 4-8 or something next year

USC offered Campbell, and had he accepted, Lincoln Riley would be here. I believe we dodged a bullet though. Brian Kelly is an excellent hire, that was kept under wraps.

I guess he wants to go 7-5 at Iowa State forever, so basically like his cross state counterpart Kirk Ferentz. there is a lot of stability in that and no expectations to do better and it’s not like he’s poor

Waiting on LSU in a couple years

Not surprising. He has said repeatedly his family loves the area, he likes recruiting his kind of guys and he isn't interested in other jobs. He turned down the Lions also. He's a different cat.
From a July article
"The checkmarks just can’t understand why he wouldn’t take an offer like the reported five-year, $68.5 million deal floated by the Detroit Lions.
"For me, I think very simply put, I didn’t get in this profession to be somebody," Campbell said during his Big 12 Media Day obligations. "I got in this profession to do something.
"For me, I’ve always said, and I tell this to I think our, society, you’re either trying to be somebody else or you’re trying to do something. I think from my end, what I love about football is to teach. What I love about football is to coach. And what I love about creating a culture where young people feel confident and safe to show up every day and work to become the best version of themselves, where coaches get to show up every day and work to become the best version of themselves, that’s what I love."
