A&M didn’t beat LSU today but the way the team was coached was worlds different from the slop Jimbo was running out there

That's absolutely true. They were well coached and had a good scheme. Thankfully, someone pulled out a couple of sheets of paper at halftime and LSU came up with a defense (no lie...this apparently happened).

Good luck with the search, but the problem you face is what just happened - boosters and players influencing the process more than they should. Not a lot of coaches want to go into that situation.

That’s great, except now the ACC version of Stoops (Elko) is supposedly a finalist.

Of course they dont. No school can take a $76 million dollar hit and just shrug it off. Not A&M or Texas or Michigan or anyone else.

They are in a bad situation and need to mitigate. Promoting the interim may be their best option at this point.

This just sings "Saving money after Miles's buyout with Orgeron" to me

You even get the "he'll be a lights out recruiter and just needs great coordinators".

They are past that and already at “the players will run through a wall for him” and “he loves A&M”

Stoops at A&M would have been like LSU hiring DiNardo. Probably would have gotten 2 or 3 good seasons and then it would have run dry.

why do you say that?

Is there a reason (other than stupidity) that either of the coaches in Kansas are apparently getting no consideration? Either Klieman or Leipold would be a massive coaching upgrade.

Good things always happen when you let boosters and players run the program

What I don't get is how the fanbase can revolt over Stoops, but when names like Elko and Robinson come up, it's spin justifying how good they would be.

There are certain guys who are great at backwater schools recruiting lower-level guys and developing them into the system. Often, these guys don't translate to bigger jobs.

One of the big issues is that you'll need a revamp time to build that system with new players and in big boy football you just don't get that. Recruiting is another issue. Those types of coaches have a COMPLETELY different recruiting strategy (and usually regions of experience) than what you need to get top-5 classes.

Stoops is actually on the edge of this type of coach, but he's done it in the SEC.

Has booster interference ever resulted in a better hire in the history of college sports?

Reminder:

All of our players wanted Mike Archer.

The end.

Normally I would agree with your main pount, but the transfer portal and NIL have turned things totally upside down in terms of recruiting and general roster management. Both of these guys also already jumped up from championships at lower divisions and are winning at power 5 jobs.

Sure, the SEC is a different beast, but I would say these aren't the typical "hot name" or "one year wonder" kind of coaches.

All are risky hires, and might amount to a bust. But better than hiring an 11-year SEC East coach with mediocre results. No offense, Kentucky.

You mean the guy who has consistently beaten better talent with worse talent? The guy who has gotten the best athletes in the history of the Kentucky program?

You're a delusional idiot.

Players stumping for Robinson reminds me of the LSU Mike Archer hire and how that went down.

“Eppright Donors ($100K+) took a major stand and communicated a united front to cancel tickets, withhold all funding (NIL included)”

A&M program summed up.
