But I think that's the thing. aTm is, at best, a mid-tier SEC team with Arkansas and Ole Miss (all-time rankings). Yes, it is a step up from Kentucky.

Disabuse yourself of that opinion. Elite programs are now those with huge NIL funds.

I see people saying this is a good hire. Might be but I would have doubts of a guy who has a conference record of 35-55 just saying. I know it’s Kentucky but that’s abysmal.

Saban or Urbs wouldn’t have a winning conference record at Kentucky.

You don't think Saban or urban could have a better record then stoops in the SEC east?

The SEC east has been complete dog shite for the past 15 years

We have the resources and expectations of programs a level above that, but the historical success of the programs you named. I can see it being an issue for coaches looking at it objectively, but you can also write a legacy at A&M that you can’t frankly anywhere else if you care about that. We would build a statue for an SEC championship. Job rankings are stupid and completely different based on the individual but I understand it takes the right mindset from a coach to succeed here, and that’s no guarantee obviously

Chad Morris 2.0? He had a similar record at SMU.

No, I don’t think Saban or Urban would have a winning conference record at Kentucky. Of course they’d have winning conference records at Florida and Georgia where they would have open checkbooks to hire whomever they want as far as players and staff. Kentucky football isn't Florida or Georgia.

Aggys are trying to pull a Tennessee and shut down the hire

Brent Zwerneman with the show stopper

I will add this: Any reports that say Mark Stoops to Texas A&M is a done deal are premature and inaccurate.

But Fisher had that at Texas A&M and he failed badly.

So Stoops was making $8.6 million at Kentucky? What will A & M pay him?

Nobody has said it’s officially done. Just that it would be a surprise if it wasn’t by tomorrow morning.

The negativity around this is something I’ve never seen with A&M football. We will see what happens but nothing would surprise me. Embarrassing for the school at this point

A&M will be willing to do anything Stoops wants/needs to get them over the hump.
up to and including blowjobs from the cheerleaders to all football players

Don't you mean the Yell Leaders? I bet that would go over well in recruiting.

It's funny seeing Aggies freak out about Stoops when many would've been happy to hand the keys to Fisch, Elko, or Leipold.

Those three are lauded for fielding one or two competitive teams at traditional basketball schools, but Stoops is considered underwhelming after doing the same thing for much longer.

The melt has been extreme and I’m sure the donors are hearing it.

This would be an epically mediocre hire for A&M.

I don’t think anyone has said that it’s a done deal, just that it’s expected to be finalized either tonight or tomorrow.

most would not have been happy about elko and leipold would have been viewed more negatively than positive

this wouldnt have happened and it would have been ultimately accepted but saying wed have been happy with elko or leipold is a stretch
