You left out the part about hitting the QB lottery to make that happen. Although having good defensive players and a defensive coordinator not throw up all over himself all season certainly helps.

I can't upvote this enough. The interim hire because the players want it is almost always a bad move.

Doesn’t it seem like the story has just taken so many twists and turns? I can’t tell if it was the fans who revolted, the players revolted, or Stoops declined.
It sounds like your big donors and administrators all revolted against it

I was pretty underwhelmed by the prospect of a Stoops hire but if it's true the boosters freaked out at the 11th hour and nuked whatever deal may have been in place, it speaks poorly of the culture behind the scenes. That's Bjorks hire to make in coordination with the President. If you don't trust Bjork to do his job and make the hire, get rid of him. But having boosters run amok nuking a hire they don't like is reminiscent of the decade long shite show Texas went through.

HAHAH OH NO NO NO I know y'all didn't think Stoops was a sexy hire, but that sounds downright atrocious

If only there were a couple of examples of what can happen when you hire a Line coach with little to no HC experience to lead an SEC program.

I would rather roll the dice trying that than get a $9m a year coach who would just be 5-6 more years of 8-4 w/a slow plodding offense that’s boring AF to watch.

Yeah, I would have to agree with this.

But we really don’t even know what actually happened yet.

rolling the dice is not a smart decision

I get the reluctance on Stoops. Most LSU fans felt the same way about him last year, as well. However, there are other more experienced guys you can trust your program with. Fisch seems like a gamble, but also seems to have potential. I think Elko would be a solid hire that you wouldn’t have to break the bank for.

This may seem crazy, but I would call Chadwell, who has won on every level with a unique system, before handing the program keys to a position coach who would be learning on the job in the SEC. Like we’ve seen with both O and Pittman, this hands-off CEO model only works if the staff is a perpetual home run. This issue even caught up to Dabo, eventually.

It’s interesting to me to be agreeing with LSU and Ole Miss fans.

There are people that think Lincoln Riley would be a good hire, and they look like idiots. That’s what this so called revolt against Stoops looks like to me.

Don't waste your time. Texas A&M won't pull the trigger.

We went through the same exact thing in 2017 when all of our players were screaming to hire Matt Luke as the full time head coach. And Bjork did and that hire did more damage to the program than the NCAA did

I’m fine w/Elko, Fisch, and Chadwell too.

All I’m saying is if our choice is between Stoops and ERob give me the high risk high reward choice over a guy who’d cost $9million+, would be here a minimum of 5-6 years b/c of his massive contract, and is a virtual guarantee to give us Jimbo level results at nearly the same per year price.

Point taken. There’s just no reason for it to be a decision between Stoops and Robinson when there are so many potential options in-between.

It seems that weak ADs get taken in with the notion that there are so few options on the table. That definitely happened with Alleva when he chose Orgeron after striking out on one guy.

its hard to really convince people from outside of the program to honestly interview after what just happened

this is a shite show and an awful look on the program and i bet a lot of people who would otherwise be interested might be pullling back now
