nah I don't think you intentionally lead anyone astray, passed along what you heard. Not sure why people take it so personally. The only thing you could be accused of is getting people's hopes up for the red rider bb gun, only to open up that present to see a pair of socks.....or shrimp boots I guess

So the only year he calls plays they suck dick. Yeah bring him onot down. We all know Chip Kelly called plays then Scott Frost.

My initial post was pure sarcasm. I thought you were playing along.

If No. 20 in the country sucks dick, then yea he sucked dick.
However, they had a freshman QB and a freshman dominated O-line.
And still managed to suck dick at No. 20.

They averaged 35 points per game. The problem was on defense. 126 out of 128 in total D. Maybe he's just a better coordinator.

You have to look a little deeper than ppg and rankings when considering the quality of an offense a HUNH scheme. We've seen over and over again how offensive stats can be inflated while defensive stats can be skewed negative as a result.
I'm not saying that he's not a quality coordinator. I really don't know.

I'm intrigued.
We have enough good recruiters on staff, so that doesn't worry me about Helfrich. You would think after several years with Chip he would have to pick up something. Interesting...

Kelly continued to call plays after he was promoted from offensive coordinator to replace Bellotti in 2009, and he nearly led Oregon to the Bowl Championship Series title the next season. But after Kelly left to take over the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, Mark Helfrich took over at Oregon and deferred the calls to assistant coach Scott Frost.

I know it's a couple years old, but it does say a lot about what Helfrich was and wasn't responsible for. I'm not so sure he is the guy we're looking for.
Edited due to busted link.

I'm cool with it. Good to have choices.

he runs on offense so radically different than what we do. I just don't like the fit.
Is this post in jest? Surely to god it is.

The biggest misconception is that Oregon's has fallen off, which in reality, that is furthest from the truth. He still ran a Top 20 offense and put up a lot of points. The issue was the defense fell off the face of the Earth when Nick Aliotti retired
This would be a huge get if O can pull this off

He seems like a bright guy. Would be awesome listening to him and Aranda talk football together.

Chip Kelly wasn't a Recruiter.

I'd much rather have him for a few years than Kiffin for 1.

I wouldn't mind having him here and Ensminger can call the plays from his binder. Just as long as the coaches don't get mixed up having too many binders laying around.
Posted on 12/5/16 at 5:49 pm to CEORanter
We should at least consider him for shadow coordinator. Just take about $300K from O's contract.

Here is my take on Helfrich:
1) He is thorough on the recruiting trail. His recruits see the field and he cut down on the boom vs bust recruits. He also elevated the quality of the walk ons. The bottom half of the roster is better. When talking specifically about the offense, it's deep and the next OC will be like a kid in the candy store. The downside is we don't seem to have that one elite guy to count on.
2) He is a bright football mind. He just can't be the guy to push the team's buttons. He needs to be under a type A personality.
3) I personally believe qb development failures were due to Frost. I think he is great at evaluating qbs and developing them. Some would argue with me though.
All in all, Helfrich sitting in LSU with that much talent within 6 hours driving distance would be fun to watch.

Very first question SIAP. Don't believe he's the answer

Not supposedly, it's true. Helfrich helped Chip with being eyes in the sKY but Chip called the plays and Frost was the play caller when he was the OC.
