This is the truth. Far less risk being the DC at ND than at LSU. He can coast to very good statistical seasons because of weaker competition on his way to a HC position.

This is in no way an excuse for Orgeron, who continues to run his mouth and be made to look a fool.

Hes also closer to being HC at Notre Dame than at LSU. That's the area he's from and has lived all his life.

Dave Aranda, a recent LSU DC, got a very good job at Baylor

Notre Dames last 2 DCs are the current DC at Texas AM and head coach at Vanderbilt

So I disagree

BS. Aranda took the leap and look where it took him. You can’t be scared or timid in this business. Go compete against the best and prove you belong.

Aranda was a west coast guy. He had already made the big move. Look at Freeman's college, pro, and coaching career. Other than a quick stay with the Texans as a player, all of it has been up north.

Had a co-worker once who had a theory about the Midwest. She said it was settled by failures. People who tried to go West and couldn't make it. Of course her being divorced from a guy from the Midwest may have clouded her opinion a bit.

history says the OP is wrong. Please look up coordinators at each school over the past 20 years and tell me which team has gotten more head coaches.

I think he just meant he’s not going to play good offenses.

I feel like if ND doesn’t have a top 5 D in the next 3 years and fails to contend Freeman’s choice to coach a softer SOS makes his career trajectory fizzle starting now.. he basically went all in on ND winning, and if they fail it amplifies the optics of him being scared to coach in the SEC.. just my 2

There is a national appeal to Coaching/Playing at ND that just isn't there for LSU.

Don’t know why the downvotes, I think they same thing. Totally safer move for job trajectory

Whether the allegations are true or not, LSU does not look like a stable job to outsiders at the moment.

You are correct. Like it or not, ND has a certain cachet that no other school has. I know, it’s dated and only works with certain people in certain places but it is still real. Many in the national media love ND and tolerate the SEC.
The South is misunderstood by many in the Midwest. Now is not a good time to sell the SEC to a northerner despite what many on those board may think.

No shite. Anyone not seeing this before the interview at LSU even happened was blind. Unless the ND interview was a total bomb, the LSU interview was an absolute home run where he just couldn’t NOT work with O because they were fast friends, or we backed up the damn bank into his pocket, he wasn’t coming to LSU. And when he left without signing, it was a horrible sign he was not coming here because, logically, the ND job is just easier for him to get to his ultimate goal, all while being with an old buddy of his and closer to his family in an area that he knows and likes.

ETA: oh, and Brian Kelly isn’t going anywhere unless he wants to.

You can turn a passing game coordinator gig into an NFL head coaching job in 2 years at LSU
