Probably not, but you would've beaten Wisconsin, AU, and Florida with him this year (that would be reason enough to hire him if I were an LSU fan)

This

I think our fans are forgetting the shite sandwhich our offense has been the past couple of years. I'm not saying we shouldn't go after the best, but they really need to gain some perspective of how awful we've been on the offense side of the ball. We had a damn TE coach break records in a short amount of time

Anyone who melts from transitioning from Miles/Cameron to Kiffin should have their head examined. This may sound like exaggeration but I find it quite challenging we could frick this up given how AWFUL we've been on offense. I think I would be fine with almost any of the same OC's that have been mentioned on this board

Nobody knows that.

He may love it in BR, have more control and get paid large.
Plus the fact that success is likely to come.

So what? That just gives us more bargaining power for the next OC. If O can build a reputation for this program being a stepping stone for "hot" coordinators to get HC jobs, that is a good thing. We can keep fresh blood in here, keep the systems changed up and be unpredictable and fricking dominant.

but that's not what will happen. Bama and his name will be why he gets another HC job. LSU is just gonna show that he can coach without Saban. Not that LSU is some king maker.

Also changing the offense every year hurts your team more than the other one.

Right

Why go down that route again

Why keep hiring your buddies? Miles did this. Just ready for a new direction but I'll take Kiffin over a number of others if it comes down to it

He's here 1 year and if it's more it's because he was just okay

I just can't see Kiffin getting us over the Bama hump. He struggled to score on LSU, how's he gonna score on Alabama?

It's obvious he wants to be a HC

Not HC money. He is looking at every HC job now. It's clear he wants to be a HC again.

Oh yeah? He has had no success at Bama and had no success at USC before he left for Oakland. But who likes living in LA anyway.

This, and he won't have Saban to put him back in check here either. I can imagine some games next year with 40 pass attempts while Guice gets 12 carries for 70 yards, and we're in a dogfight in the 4th quarter.

ETA: I still think he'd be better than anyone we've had recently.

Everywhere that he's been successful as an offensive coordinator he's been working with #1 recruiting classes year after year. Not saying he wouldn't have good players at LSU but there's no denying that Saban year after year has the best. Much like USC had back in their successful run.

I also think Kiffin benefits from having Saban jump his arse every now and then. Don't think Saban doesn't sometimes have to get him back in line during games. Much like Pete Carroll probably did at USC.

I'm not too wild about him reuniting with his buddy Orgeron and being given a long leash. Just don't like it.

IF... IF... He were to come to LSU as OC, that would tell me that He's not happy at an undefeated national contender top program... and willing to make a lateral move... OR Saban has asked him nicely to leave... that would mean ANOTHER program has told him to pack his crap and leave.

So, that concerns me.

He's not enough of a football geek. He's a charismatic, big-picture guy with some OC skills.

Then explain why the best, most dominant CFB coach in recent history brought this charismatic, big picture non-football geek to Bama to modernize his offense.

Kiffin is a solid tactician who could bring life to our abysmal offense.

And he's out for himself

Please give me a list of coaches who are not out for themselves who are coaching at perennial top 15 programs.

Ok...I'm just spitballing here...but how about this:

Who do you have to beat to get back on top?

Who has the advantage...Saban seeing Kiffin and his tendencies up close and personal every day for the last three years, or vice versa?

This would seem to indicate advantage Saban.

"Coach Kiffin, he gets real competitive so he tries to scheme us a little bit, but feel like we do a good job," Allen said. "As a defense you try to get Coach Saban mad at him and try to get him yelled at in practice."

How often are the Alabama defenders successful in getting Kiffin yelled at?
"Oh all the time," Allen said with a smile. "All the time and we love it. I'm sure you guys have seen those on the TV, that's exactly how it is in practice.""
