I don't really see a downside.

Maybe he's the OC at Alabama in 2017?

only downside is that he wants to be a head coach again ASAP, and could leave after a year.

he's the candidate most likely to bolt first

What most people say is, he will leave after a year.

To which I say..

So what? That just gives us more bargaining power for the next OC. If O can build a reputation for this program being a stepping stone for "hot" coordinators to get HC jobs, that is a good thing. We can keep fresh blood in here, keep the systems changed up and be unpredictable and fricking dominant.

we'll be in this same position next year

but if he's leaving that soon it must mean our offense was worth a shite

He abandons the run at the first sign of trouble, he gets too cute with his play calling, he would only be here for a year, and in general he is a piece of shite human being

We lose our first real QB recruit for a coach who will be here one season and we have to do this all over again next year.

Even Bama fans acknowledge he's a bad PC. He benefits from ridiculous talent on the line and the defense giving him multiple opportunities to where they finally do breakthrough

He would be here 1 year tops IMO

Having a guy that everyone wants every year is a good thing. Having guys actually leave after one year is not. You are starting from just above scratch every time you have to implement a new offense. That's not a good thing.

I'd rather have Canada but I'm OK with renting Lane for a year or two.
